Topic: DJ BL3ND - How does he create his mixes? - Page: 1

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

I'm a huge fan of DJ BL3ND's mixes, he has the same taste in music as I do and his mixes are so well done.

Check out his Sexy Mix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oncwr13cCbY

I'm just curious how he makes these mixes? It's obviously not done live so what software can one use to create mixes like this? Also does he use isolated instrumentals and acapellas or just straight up mix the songs? :s

I would love to create similar mixes so and feedback would be great :D

I remember this guy popping up a year ago in the forums and getting flamed to the bone. Nevertheless I see on his youtube his jumping did get him out of the bedroom and on stage so chapeau for the viral workings!

I think he prerecords using whatever type of DJ software cause they are pretty straight forward and probably uses remixes of most tracks. Most popular tracks will come in a zillion remixes that will be released within the community. But you wont find them at the common music store, you'll need to search the labels or specialist stores.

He has been here in DFW at the Lizard Lounge. Matter fact he is coming back. And I know the folks there, sound guys and a couple of the resident DJs. They have confirmed that his mixes are pre-made. Still can't tell whether it is by him or not. But he does NOT mix live.

My assumption is that he or someone helps him, with either Ableton or Fruity Loops. He then just plays it and bounces around like a tool titty twisting knobs and pretending he is mixing.

To me he is not a DJ but rather an entertainer. Much like Pauly D. DJ Blend is very popular about the teen raver scene. Sad that they fall for gimmicks.

i totally agree with xcakid, i am no hater but dj bl3nd is too over rated. if i am not wrong he is using serato scratch live to make his mix and all his mix are simple and clean. And he is not a dj to me but more like a entertainer. DJ without headphone? pre-mix.

NOt hatin on the guy. Hey if people actually want to buy into that crap, then so be it. More power to him.

My beef is calling himself a "DJ" when he is not. I would be willing to bet, that guy couldn't mix his way out of 2 different BPMs without the help of a software. If he is doing his mix its not live. Already been proven by the folks at Lizard Lounge here in DFW. So this goofball is using Ableton to premix. Any dumbass with enough software knowledge of Ableton can premake a mix and bounce around looking like tool. If anything else he should call himself a producer-entertainer, NOT a DJ. Even David Guetta was man enough to drop the title DJ, cause he is not. At least not anymore.

You can do the same thing in VDJ by using cue points. Most of the afrojack / chuckie / sidney samson mixes he uses he starts playing after the 1st or 2nd break. He does not play the whole song, maybe 45 seconds to 1 minute.

thanks,

It’s all about the show, he has a fanbase and gets to tour. The people going to see him dont care how what he does it or how he does it.

For me nothing is worse than to spend $40 or $50 to see a DJ and watch them just stand there like Richard Humpy Vission. His mix cd’s were crazy, I thought he mixed on 4 decks like Bad Boy Bill. Or to be totally blinded by lights so you can’t see them at all, like Avicii.

DJ Blend doesnt do anything special when hes mixing. What makes him good is his song selection. Its all about what songs you pick and when you throw them in. Some Djs make a mixed cd and it sound boring while other have better selction and make the mix more exciting to listen too.

HAHAHAHA! Gotta agree with you on this one. Fella looks like a complete dickhead. Nothing novel about his music. I'd shoot myself if I were him.

I'd have a lot more respect for anyone who uploads a video of them actually mixing, even if their video only gets 1 view, than this video of a fruity cocktart prancing about like an idiot with 80000 over views.

@jb, if i had lights id gladly go buy a dildo and send a video response to blend... i think i would have to put on some 90s dance too just to top it off, like aqua, wamdu project, vengaboys, steps etc..

Stop hating! Most of you could only wish to have even part of this guys success! Being a DJ, Producer, Artist, Gimmick or Jukebox is not about ourselves but about the public, period. Those of you who only play music you like are here on the forums day and night because you can't get hired. It's not about me or you but the group with the cash who wants a freaking party!! PERIOD!

Anyone here who says they're too good or to prideful to put on a mask, dance around like a nutbag, play the latest House music and go home with a pocket full of cash is full of SHIT!!! The only repercussion or side-effect I see to doing what Bl3nd does is maybe a hangover, a sore peter from banging groupies and too much money to count... Yeah, I'd do it and so would most of YOU!

OK, now I'll wait for the barrage of do-gooder replies and flames but we all know the truth here. SO DON'T HATE!!

DJ RuDe

Keep Spinnin'!!
