What do you think about the new Traktor Pro S4?

With its new integrated sampler and Live recording sampler it now has one of the features that VirtualDJ-users used to claim to be a big advantage of VirtualDJ.

For me Traktor S4 looks quite nice and a strong competitor compared to VirtualDJ.

Whats your opinion?

Traktor doesn't do video as well as i would like ......

true ;-)

I dont use "live samples" so that has never been a selling point for me..

The ability to use any type of video file (from mpeg2 to wmv to mp4), now thats a selling point..
built in slideshow.. thats a selling point..
(in my opinion)
:-)

The "new" ability to use samples???
thats sooo 2008 ;-)

(just bugging ya LOL)

Or live camera feed, slide show, clip bank, use this plug-in for audio, and a bunch of other foolish stuff I use on a regular basis.

Credit where it's due though.... that's a hell of a powerful dj system they've come up with, especially running with the new S4 controller. I'd spend money just to get my hands on that controller!

Yeah i've seen a few features and they're quite innovative. :) I'm always glad to see progress in any dj program.

I think its nice but it just seems like a ton of work....................I dont know maybe I'm just lazy, lmao!!

Imho, traktor is perfect for edm djs with it's advanced effects, beat gridding, and other features. For those of us that play a wider variety of music, take requests, do mobile, VDJ has more features that we need.

I own traktor pro and vdj 6 and lately i have preferd to use traktor over vdj.
in my eyes traktor is so real to vdj.
i have used vdj for the past 6 years and traktor for about the last 1 year
i just find vdj is so cheesy atm traktor is where the real power is
i am looking forward to the release of vdj7 but at the moment just dosnt do it for me
but thats just my opinion.

My big question: Denon MC-6000 or Kontrol S4?

I've been waiting for Denon mc-6000 but I must say that when I compare both mc-6000 layout and traktor S4 layout, I like S4 more. Especially I'm concerned about denons jog wheels, they are so close to many buttons and faders that you will easily accidentally touch them. S4 has enought space around wheels. Also wheels are on top side of the controller. Some may say that it's not standard but I think it's good idea to have wheels on far side of controller because it reduces the chance of accidentally touching. Also S4 has a lot of rotary-push buttons and clear and logical layout.

Will VDJ support S4 kontroller? I mean, 4 decks support, 4-channel standalone mixer, own asio-driver etc?

At least problem with itch controllers is that when it's claimed that vdj supports them but it's not entirely true.
I currently have VCI-300 and it's not working perfectly even if someone says vdj supports it fully. No possibility to use mic and play music at the same time, no asio drivers (only asio4all which is not so good as real asio driver). I'm pretty sure that denon controller is better supported than S4 (it even has vdj logo on it).

My guess is that we'll have to wait and see what's going to happen...
DENON produces it's products with the "logic" that they should be able to be used with ANY dj software on the market.
Other companies do not follow this logic completely or for all of their products. Anytime I see a controller "Optimized for (put a dj software name here)" I'm a little bit suspicious... If optimized means that it has a layout that's convenient for this software title, then it's Ok. But if optimized means special drivers, special communication protocols e.t.c. then I usually pass...

Finally I believe that the layout preferences is something completely personal. If you like S4 layout more then if it doesn't have any "hidden" limitations (special drivers e.t.c.) go for it. Personally I like the MC-6000 more, but I'm not gonna try to convince you... ;)

I have gone through quite many controllers: Hercules MK1, Xp10s, DAC3, Denon x500+Denon hc4500, now vci-300.
I must say that denon mixer+controller combination was most versatile and relialble so far (but too heavy for me with rack). VCI-300 is ok, but has asio-limitations and also second jog does not respond very well anymore.

So next replacement along Virtual DJ7 would be either mc-6000 or Kontrol S4. Maybe I will dig up my old xp10s from dust and use them for deck 3 and 4 ;)

Yes , it's only a Midi controller .

Yes .

NO , who told to you that S4 is a standalone mixer ?

Denon 6000 is a standalone mixer , Analoge & full midi .
S4 looks more Pro .
Denon have more buttons but is more heavy .
I think Denon is more friendly with Vdj7 , because S4 is specially designed for Traktor .

It is not currently officially (Native) supported, but as above, a user who owns this controller could make a mapping for it if it is a standard MIDI or HID controller.

Not standalone mixer? Then It's pretty clear I will go for denon.

The denon does not look pro enough for my taste, i'm thinkin a kontrol s4 with my virtual dj and mayb one timecode mk5 on the side. I have used virtual too long to consider switching. Please make an awesome mapper!?

For me there is one thing that is Missing in Denon controller, that is the vu-meters for each four channel. Who is the first one to try Kontrol S4 with VDJ?

Does anyone has succeeded with the Kontrol S4 and VDJ7??? Please?

Hello

Thank you for your input, but are you 100 per cent positive that the s4 i s mappable to vdj 7. Someone in this forum has said to have tried and has not succeeded.
Thank you in advance
