Topic: Where can I purchase songs that are not copy right protected?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I recently purchased a few songs from the iTunes Store and made a mix with them, but whenever I try to upload the mix to Soundcloud the upload doesn't go through and I receive a message stating that the mix have copy right protected material. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance!

As far as I am aware itunes downloads don't have DRM built in any more.

Just like YouTube, the tracks you used were not made by you. It might not have the "drm " protection but it was created by someone else who had it copyrighted. Try Vimeo over some other site......

Hi, try mixcloud, that's a site made just for DJ mixes so no probs about copyright :-)

The difference between Soundcloud and Mixcloud is, one allows downloading, the other doesn't Some artists do not want their work shared. Not defending, nor attacking, them. That is their right for the art they created. So, if you wish to share a mix, Mixcloud, or House-mixes is a better choice.
