Topic: More Video Transitions

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Besides using Scotts (SBDJ) voluntary services is there another way to get more video transition incoporated in VDJ? I know I'm not the only one on here wanting them. Or am I? Who's with me?

More pro grade video transitions! Definitely at the top of my list too!

3D transitions and a glass shatter effect spring to mind - look at Mix Emergency for a program that churns a high volume of class transitions.

Hopefully we shouldn't have to wait much longer. I'd happily pay good money for an upgrade package consisting of x amount of effects and transitions, and I'm sure many others feel the same, so the hire of some developers would certainly pay off IMHO.

I think the people willing to pay are in the minority though and it would be difficult for the developer to promote since sales aren't allowed on the VirtualDJ forum.

I know this thread wasn't a dig at me but I thought I would explain my current position.

I've currently got so many balls in the air that it's difficult for me to find development time at the moment:

I DJ a minimum of 4 nights a week (along with associated music and video editing work required along with the development of custom plugins I use).
I have a major DJ-related software development project in progress at the moment that I have to deliver in the next couple of weeks, along with sales meetings and so on with potential customers.
There are two paid plugins I'm working on for a customer.
I've just signed a retainer agreement for a company who want to be able to call on my services for non DJ related work.
I've also then got all the medical and care needs for my disabled son too and associated family stuff.

I appreciate that I've kept a lot of people hanging who are waiting on plugins I've spoken about but as you can see my time is already somewhat limited. To those people I apologise, but work that puts food on the table and keeps a roof over the heads of my family takes priority and I'm sure you can all appreciate that.

Yo Scott, puck that. You do not need to apologize or explain your situation to anyone here. As someone who has used and enjoyed all of your professional plugins, I am grateful for all of your hard work. I don't care if you never put out another plugin, you have done a great service to all of us. This goes out to all of the members that have contributed to the free plugins that we enjoy. I for one can wait as long as it takes for anything new that comes down the road. All the best to you and your family.

I Def dont think it was a personal hit at Scott! Scott has done great work! I think what the case is. IS there is more of a need for custom plug ins! I have spoken to Scott about this! And to tell you there is a new website that is being created that is gonna feature Custom Plug ins for Mix Emergency would i like to see them expand to Virtual Also YES, Do I have a in that could get this- YES. But i for one do not know the first thing about making transitions or effects! But i have spoken to Scott about all this and brought ME to his attention so hopefully we could see some stuff soon! Thanks Scott for all the work! I persoanlly think you should be hired full time to work on plug ins by Virtual! Just a thought! See who ever is going to Atlantic City next week!! I will be in the Hercules Booth and maybe the Virtual Booth!
DVDJ Biggie

Biggie, see you there.

Current work and finances won't stretch to a trip to AC I'm afraid. Especially since i would have to bring the family. BPM in brummie land is about the best I can manage at the moment.

I know that thread wasn't a dig, just wanted to update people.

+1 What Rick said....

Guys,

The request of more video FX and transitions is aimed at Virtual DJ as a company, and any employed plugin developers. I think the purpose of this thread is to see if there are other users who feel the same way.

In my view user contributions are a great bonus and I appreciate the hard work of Scott and the others! Scott, you've just informed us why this system doesn't work, user contributions can't be depended on as the sole source of plugins, because life doesn't always offer time and hey you might wake up one day and decide to switch to a competitors software, who knows!

It's up to Virtual DJ if they want to charge for any upgrade or not, of course given the choice everyone would like something for nothing, but there are a great amount of professionals out there who would pay. It's worked for Serato, Traktor and a heap of other programs, there's no reason why it wouldn't work in the case of VDJ. People have commented at length as to how Virtual DJ pro can be taken more seriously as a pro tool, a charged upgrade system for new plugins and FX would offer something here, offering a certain level of exclusivity to those who are serious about FX etc.

This is just a side note though, how we get them isn't important to me.

+2 what Rick said and everyone else! Scott I still can't figure out how you manage time but my guess you don't sleep? :)

I totally appreciate the dilaouge and I really feel good about on how this VDJ family looks out for one another. Not to leave anyone out that are so helpful but Scott, Paul, Huey, Cstoll an a bunch of others for sure stick out but I know their plates are overflowing with a to-do and to help out list.

That is way I started this thread with besides relying on Scotts voluntary services what other way can VDJ implement more video transitions. I'm onboard with Bagpuss and DVDJ Biggie about willing to pay if the choices are available. They can be promoted as VDJ add on packages and/or etc.

Hopefully there is strong consideration for this at upper management and it's only a matter of time! SOON??!! :D

Thanks!!
Edwin

I don't want this thread to die so easily without resolve.

PLEASE! IF THERE ARE ANY OTHERS OUT THERE WHO WOULD LIKE TO HAVE SOME NEW VIDEO TRANSITIONS DEVELOPED PLEASE POST HERE AND SHOW YOUR INTEREST.

NOTE!!! This is not a shot at VDJ. It's a great product that most of us use to drive our businesses. Post only if you wish to acquire more transitions even if that means paying for a transition package from an authorized developer. I for one do not want any bootleg crap on my machine.

Thanks

Try these, http://www.mediafire.com/?d2m5kutjwtm
Just put the .dll's in your video effects folder and open VDJ, then have fun. And I know there not video effects but combined with the transitions you can come up with some cool stuff.

Enjoy
Huey

Thanks Huey but I have already been through those a while back. Cool, but not exactly what I'm looking for. I am looking for fresh video transitions from deck 1 to 2.

Cheers.

Wouldnt want to see this thread die. Just got secondary screen working in HD1080 with mutiple video effects, sonique, and firetxt all working together. More transitions would be brilliant. The Serato addon for mac is very impressive in this area.

Whats that??

He probably means Mix Emergency.

I've got some more video transitions and effects to release in the near future.
