str8 series is better

I used to own tech 12's now I own STR8 150's. ;)

If you're always worried about what people think by all means get techs, but if you want better features, better performance and absolute better value for your money then get the STR8's.

You can't go wrong either way.

I would take a used technics over a new Str8. We were just discussing this in someones post here.

Haha same old argument. I've never owned the st150's but I've been told they don't hold up well in clubs due to poor vibration resistance. I do know that the parts in technics turntables are still the best. And yes as caliente said there is a reason they have been the standard for over 40 years. Its kind of interesting really, the Japanese basically have/had a strangle hold on the international market for producing high quality electronics and components since they rebuilt their country after WWII. This is due to their advanced business strategies. Basically they focused all their energy into one area of production and dominated. They started with parts for transistor radios and worked their way up from there. Ha ok so I'm getting way off topic now, but I did a paper on this for my international business class. Trust me when I say that you wont find a turntable made from better parts or of higher quality than technics. Just my opinion but in the instance of the st150 if you really think you need pitch controls that go to +-50 then you should prolly get a CD deck.

Do a little research on the internet and i think you will find your answer. If you really want to know which is for your try them.

STR8 is the same thing but on steroids kids. Which would u use? lol

agree..i think its time to move on to the next generation of turntables,...its the future...

Thanks for all the responses. I tried my Fraternity brothers technics and went to sam ash and tried the stantons there. I think imma go with the stants on this one.

It is all a matter of opinion and personal preference. Me personally I will NEVER part with my technics (made that mistake once already) but that is just me. Its good that you have the ability to actually try both of them and see which you prefer. Have fun with your new investment.

I get nostalgic about equipment too you know, and have a lot of love for the mighty tech's.

I used to travel length n width of the county with vinyl and even across Europe and the only decks the were ever used were tech's, I remember haw soar my finger tips used to get from feathering the platter and working the needle 6 nights a week over a six month period.

After that I was on a 2 night DJ stint from vinyl for the rest of the year making up the other nights from CD, until it was the holiday season again.

It wasn't until I gave up playing from decks (about 8 years after) that somebody brought a brand new pair of ST's to my house to p/x against some DNS 5000's, I saw them and tried them and just couldn't believe the torque, features, inputs and output as opposed to having leads attached etc and the quality. I bought them and sold my new Technics and ended up with about £100 in my pocket

PS,

When I stopped going out with vinyl, I sold my gigged 1210's and bought a new pair and left them in the un-oped boxes in my music room with the promise of one day setting them up permanently.

STR8's are still boxed and stored however in 2011 I should be able to set them up once and for all, I'll never gig them. or will I? If the money's there, I'll advertise a vinyl package maybe but charge an extra 200
