Just about to melt some plastic on an Acer 23" Touchscreen;
Acer Aspire AZ5610 All-In-One Desktop PC, Core 2 Quad Q8200, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD, DVDRW, ATI HD 4570, bluetooth,Webcam Windows 7

For home use initially, but, looking to the future of possibly DJing with the touchscreen. Anybody got one or had any experience with one?

I have been using a touchscreen pc for about 1 year now. I have to say I am extremely happy with this set up. It gives you the flexiblity of a laptop but the power of a pc. It also makes your set up look alot more professional.
Check out the ALLN1 PC at www.prodjpc.com.
Tell Paul that I refer you to him.

Both my Vaio U70 and UX1 have touchscreens. Been using them for years with BPM Studio and VDJ with no problems at all.

I purchased a ELO touchscreen off ebay a few months ago and I tried it out with VDJ, it worked well but the only thing I didn't like was the fact that I could only do 1 thing at a time. Example I could not hit play on my deck while crossfading. Maybe there's touchscreens out there that will let you do multi-touch.

I have been usin a touchscreen and use a midi controller for the crossfader, I LOVE this combination.

I just recently started using a HP touchsmart and must say it is awesome

You guys using touchscreens, are you using video? ............and, if so, how are you getting video output?

I ask because all the large touchscreen systems I've seen do not have video output of any description. Because of their size they have video inputs but the manufacturers don't seem to expect anyone needing video output. I have located many USB convertors to VGA, I can connect my PC to TV convertor into one of those, however, that means another bit of kit to get to an output solution. I have found USB to Composite Video hardware with Pinacle Studio, need to investigate it a little more.

Also, are you using an external soundcard to enable the use of headphones?

Are you using MIDI controllers, or, just using the touchscreen for all operations?

Thanks
Les

msi wind top ae2200 has video output

i am waiting for the AE2400 THE BEST of MSI that announced . Not Available yet.

Also a 24 inch sony vaio has video input and picture in picture , not sure for video output

Yes, I am doing video. It is easy to do by adding a good video card. The system I am using ALLN1 Pro Dj Pc is a full touchscreen and pc in one. It has 4 1.5 hardrives full of mp3 & video.

Same here. I can't say I was very pleased. Maybe if you have a skin with bigger buttons.....You can see a video I've posted on youtube:

According to MSIs website the video connections are inputs not outputs.

I just received my Vaio 24inch All-in-One pc, It only has video input, No video output.

I personally think touchscreen is a waste of money. Save your money and just spend it on buying midi equipment.

Touchscreen maybe a waste of money, but it adds feature and flexibility in virtual DJ :)

MIDI equipment??? I got enough MIDI gear and wiring to confuse an electrician lol

Touchscreen reduces the clutter for one thing, but, there's no substitute for a large touch screen and getting back to "hands on" DJing :-)

Each 2 their own i guess. I find touchscreen not hands on enough in my own opinion. Its very slow and calculated movements. I have a lcd touch screen universal remote which i regret getting. Frustrating sometimes pushing wrong functions. 1 function at a time is backward and limits ur creative dj ability.

Touchscreen looks cool but its functionality not so cool. Only thing i like is being able 2 manipulate the effects like the tk filter.

Ooh, I forgot to mention the "looking cool" factor, cheers, lol

Now with W7, multi-touch is available, which is what I want to experiment with. Also, I may need to modify a skin suitable for touchscreens so as not to activate the wrong thing onscreen. With a large screen this becomes easier.

I like the idea of the "hands on" approach which is more physical than just pressing buttons.

I have used a touch screen. I had one on my first rack mount in 2002 but used it with PCDJ RED. The skin buttons in PCDJ were a lot bigger but the skins in VDJ made it difficult, so i sold it.

That was Dj Nuts and his system was built by ProDJPc whom builds the ALLN1 units.
