Topic: Vestax VCI 300 users : Questions....??

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Sup all...

Im looking at purchasing a set this week...
Before i take that step i have a few gen questions,

1,Does the VCI300 work well with VDJ6 OR other VDJ (Ive read a few post in regards to this subject but nothing recently, any updates plze)

2,What about Sound effect's ? i understand u can allocate certain switchers with the RMX Herc for selected sound effects like om VDJ. is it possiable to do the same with the vci300, or would we just use the keyboard on the laptop (using VDJ SOFTWARE not Itch)..

3,Is the Vestax VCI 300 better then the RMX Herc ??

Thanks guys would appreciate any feedback before i buy anything....

1) Yes, works great with VDJ 6.x

2) Yes, you can map all buttons for your own likings

3) Well that depends...

If you are a scratch dj, or plan to be, the VCI-300 is better than the RMX, since it has touch sensitive jogwheels.
It also have better (more sensitive) resolution on pitch sliders etc.

But other than that, they are a lot the same... For a beatmixing dj (non scratch), one might be better of saving a few bucks and get RMX.

But VCI-300 is of course better technically.. but costs a lot more than RMX

Ive only mixed with virtual dj...(I consider my self above parr..haha)
I really love VDJ its by Farr the best application for live beat mixing using the PC HANDS DOWN !!!

Anyways ive always wanted to mix using jog wheels ect so ive gone and paid for my VCI-300.....
I paid $946.55 AUD which is $839.99 USD
I really hope its worth the money becasue my wife dont know ive spent that much money on my mixer..
i told her i was going to get a set of rmx which was 500 AUD (Australian dollars) (hahaha fingers cross i get away witt it)

all i have to do is save to upgrade to vd6....Honestly dnt knw why vestax didnt do something with VDJ....VDJ kills other competition

thanks for the feedback DJ-IN-NORWAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A christmas present from you to you ;) hehe

I'm sure you'll love the controller .. ;)

I guess I have the same question....I see folks on YouTube scratching flawlessly with the RMX. I already have an RMX, but I need a second controller. It seems the RMX & VCI300 are the top controllers for VDJ.

My main question is....Is the VCI300 $500 better than the Hercules RMX or can I achieve the same results with the RMX & a little more practice?

All feedback is welcome

Do not forget the Xponent by M-AUDIO - has more functions then both vci or the rmx although the vci might have a better resolution for the jogs and the Xponent doesn't have any inputs for tcv or mic

if you are a non scratch dj, yes the RMX can work pretty much as VCI-300, and might be good enough.

If you are a scratch dj, and plan to scratch quite a bit, VCI-300 is far better than RMX

Rmx does not have touch sensitive platters, meaning if you put a finger on the jogwheel and hold still, the song stay stopped.
You need this to do advanced scratching... and VCI.300 does have touch sensitive platter

:)

ive had the vci 300 for just over a week and loving it to death !!!! its first time trying scratch so im still very dumb at it lol...but other then that all good......all i can say is it works real nice, only this i wish they added was effect switchers (u have to buy the fx thing for the vci300)
Ive used it with VDJ 6..works okay but i just cant get it to run smoove like it does with itch.....i big fan of vdj i wish vestax would get together with vdj......

ummm watt else, nothing else i guess...9/10 for the vci-300....wouldof got a perfect 10 if it worked better with VDJ and had effects

Sound card works with VJD?

Yes, the soundcard works with VDJ. If you use the ASIO4ALL drivers.

mine was working with out the drivers....but i was using my laptop sound card not the vci300 sound card....

Just a caution before you go for vci-300. Don't expect that the controller works out-of-the-box.

You must install asio4all drivers and you must be patient and a bit computer-savvy before you can get it fully to work. Also as far as I know, microphone works only if you switch off the music.

I had sound skipping trouble with vci-300 and asio4all and advanced master tempo settings until I bought a new laptop. It seems that asio4all is more resource hog because all the other controllrs and soundcards (which has real asio drivers) worked perfectly with my old laptop which has windows XP. Also there is no way to use other soundcard while using vci300 fully.

In new laptop which has windows 7 I have had zero problems with vci-300 and asio4all.

When you finally get the VCI-300 to work, it is very good controller.

play button is very fast and nice feeling. dac-3 play button is very stiff-hard to push so as dp2

cue buttons and other buttons have lights

best controller i had

recommended 100%

i use it for all my parties, weddings etc.

size and weight does matter when i play at 6th floor apartment at the kitchens small bar :)

got it from uk-store as a b-stock 450 euro

I have seen video of DJs scratching with the MK2 on Youtube they are pretty amazing. If you practice you can become proficientt at scratching on any controller. I have seen it done with the RMX too with pretty amazing results. I am a DJ from the early 80's and used belt driven turntables produced sets for radio on Sat nights. I can tell you at the station we had direct drive turntables with no pitch controls they were industtial strenght (meaning you couldn't stop the platter. I had to manually slow them down to match beats and get my mix on. I say all of theis to say that if you are dedicated and work at it you can do amazing things. By the way if you are looking for a budget controller with touch sensitive jogs try the DJ Teck Imix reload Mk2. It's all in one and you can find it here. http://www.floridamusicco.com/proddetail~prod~imix%5Freload%5Fmk2%5Fdj%5Fcontroller.htm
