Topic: Light wide scrolling horizontal lines on my tv out

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I got another laptop and am now trying video out to our flatscreen in the room. I notice these lines scrolling from the bottom up in the tv, and are real light in color. They do it even without vdj playing. I have the 2nd display set for 1024x768 and 32 bit color quality.

Additionally, it seems there is a slight delay between the lips and the song.

Nobody knows?

does the power cord have 3 pins?? Could be dirty power.

I agree with Brian, sounds like a sign wave from power.

Its a ground loop

maybe not necessarely a gound loop. how thick are the cables between the PC and the TV?
ive used some of the cables you get in the bottom of the box with a DVD player, and they pickup static noise.
But thicker 'premium' cables dont pick up any screen noise.

Humm, the power cord has 3 pins. The s-video converted to rca is a bit thin. It's only running 5' though across the floor. I dont get it with the other laptop though. I thought it might be a video card or a vdj setting. I guess I have to just play with it more. Maybe I'll even try a ground loop eliminator.

Just a note that I ran VDJ for 9 hours on auto mix and no burps, crashes, or anything on this new laptop.

Agree with Cyder on this one. Sounds like a ground loop or at least mains power interfearence to me.

Have you tried moving the source of power for the tv?
A good check would be to unplug everything from the laptop (run on the battery) apart from the video output and see if the problem stops. Also make shure that the video cable' screen has not become damaged or disconnected.Try an alternate cable.
Do you run any other signals to the TV ie audio?

last one, Do you use a powered convertor to change from Svid to composite?
