Playing WMA or WMV files on an Apple Mac

Q. Why can't I play WMA and WMV files on my Mac computer?

By default, MacOS has no built-in support for WMA/WMV files because these are Microsoft media formats.

To be able to play these files, you will need to install a 3rd party application such as Flip4Mac.

You will also need the latest version of Quicktime installed.

Then go to CONFIG -> Codecs in VirtualDJ and change the decoder for WMA and WMV to Quicktime.

If WMA and/or WMV is not present in the list, click on the + (Add) button to add them to the list.

Providing that they are not DRM protected, we would recommend converting these files to WMA files to MP3, which is a much more widely supported format.
