pitch faders are good.... the bpm matching takes awhile to get used too. It has a couple of different methods

How about pitch faders with ITCH.. are they good as on cd/vinyl players or worse? And how about bpm calculator is that ok with ITCH, because VDJ is very good for a drunk DJ who want perfect mixing as me.. ;-)

Pitch is good, feels like a Technics 1200.....

As of now I would say the BPM engine is not as accurate as VDJ, so if you rely on it you will have to wait until they improve the software.......Remember in the begining even VDJ's BPM calculations were less then stellar, now I would say they are very accurate....great job VDJ!!

Anyway for a lot of my BPM's I use Mixmiester.

It's a bit strange if ITCH BPM engine can't calculate example normal house beats. That can understand if it have problems to calculate different kind of beats as hiphop, breaks, etc..

It's so sad if need to start use other software instead of VDJ, but what can do.. and other dj controllers as omni, hercules rmx, etc aren't enough good as VCI-300.

Nice to hear that pitch is good.. :)

For house the BPM is ok, its stuff like Hip Hop ect. that it has issues with.

You have to have the Midi Translator running before you launch VDJ, it has to stay open while your using it.

Ok I was able to adjust the control on the jogs so now it sounds like vinyl. So now I have 2 issues:

1. If I toggle to vinyl mode and touch the platter or the sides of the platter for that matter, VDJ kind of crashes, and it won't allow me to play any music but it thinks it is playing music, as the STUTTER or PLAY button on the screen light up (essential if I was deaf everything happening on the screen looks normal but I hear no music). However moving the platter produces sound, so I can scratch but not actually play the song and I have to restart VDJ inorder for it to respond

2. I have not figured out how to program a combinations of buttons like for example SHIFT + KEYLOCK (in ITCH this resets the pitch) or PFL A + SCROLL (in ITCH this loads the song to Deck 1)

3. As well I looks like within VDJ there is no "CENSOR" control, meaning you reverse the song, but it continues playing so when you stop reversing the song returns to where it would

BEWARE GOT IT WORKING WITH THE MID TRANSLATOR
JUST WONDERING HOW DDID U GET THE JOG WHEELS TO WORK
AS SOON AS I TOUCH IT IT GOES NUTS FAST FOWARDING LIKE CRAZY
IN THE MAPPING I DID HAVE TO CHANGE scratch_wheel to scratchwheel for it to sho up in the midi mapping but how do i adjust the scratch and touch sensitivity of the jog? please help. so close yet so far!
thanks

SHIFT will not work with VDJ, actually I don't think any dual key combos will not work from what I understand, you have to use a Macro to accomplish this. I mentioned earlier that the PreListening was definitely not work perfectly, it seems to "leak" the other channel even if you have one selected.

I could not get this working either, I don't think this function exists in VDJ.

Are you using the XML file I provided?

to adjust the "touch" you need to change the increments line:

^ctrl ctrl="64" mode="encoder" encodermode="1" action="scratch_wheel" chan="1" increments="3" />
^ctrl ctrl="65" mode="encoder" encodermode="1" action="scratch_wheel" chan="2" increments="3" />

When you change the increments it will change the scratch sensitivity, like I mention before there will be a delay no matter what you do, the software is not talking to the device as fast as ITCH does so it will not sound as tight as when you are using ITCH, unless VDJ adds that functionality to utilize the same signal ITCH does.

So as I mentioned in previous posts its not a perfect implementation but it gives me all the funcions that would use with my Hercules RMX, hopefully future revisions of VDJ will include tighter integration of ITCH hardware.

Hope this info helps!

i think vdj has such a effect. or maybe my mate made that one himself, idk. its called "forward reverse"... very good for censoring dirty versions because it play the song in reverse and when you stop reversing the song is where it would if you would not have reversed.
I think that is what youre looking for. peace

beware
thanks for the help with everything
heres the problem im experiencing

i copies your code and everything works except for the sracth wheels
i had to change

<ctrl ctrl="64" mode="encoder" encodermode="1" action="scratch_wheel" chan="1" increments="3" />
<ctrl ctrl="65" mode="encoder" encodermode="1" action="scratch_wheel" chan="2" increments="3" />

<ctrl ctrl="64" mode="encoder" encodermode="1" action="scratchwheel" chan="1" increments="3" />
<ctrl ctrl="65" mode="encoder" encodermode="1" action="scratchwheel" chan="2" increments="3" />

had to eliminate the underscore for vdj to recognize the command and assign it to the scratchwheel
only thing is as soon as i touch the scratch wheel on my vci 300 it fast fowards the track like crazy
will increaing the increments solve this problem and if so how high do i go?

unrelated
also i an expereincing problems viewing my mp4 videos in virtual dj? do i need a specific codec? as avi andvob files work fine but majority of my files are mp4. please help!

HI !!! We have managed to make all the buttons and jogs and knobs to work in vci-300 with virtual dj but we have one basic and for me ultimate problem.... we can't make the button lights turned on when pressed and we cannot accuratelly make the pitch working (it goes like crazy when moved up or down).

Any help is appreciated - if someone helps ,we can provide our .XML file :)

Thank you

is there a delay in the jog wheels preventing accurate scratching?

Yes there is a small delay on the jog wheels but if u put the correct parameter in the XML file
you can make it work 98% of accuracy.

Thanks

Not sure how you got the JOGs working and not the PITCH controls. From what I have found without the MIDI Translator you will not have either working, and from what you are saying with the PITCH going "crazy" it indicates to me that you are not running the MIDI Translator, which should mean your JOGS are not working.

So the question is are you running the translator? If not I would love to see your XML file, otherwise run the translator and I think you will find the PITCH and JOG setup quite straight forward.

<I made all the buttons working on VCI-300 with VIRTUALDJ without the
the help of any MIDI TRANSLATOR.
My only problem is the PITCH because they have a very quick
algorithm of communication with the MIDI interface.
And my other problem is i cant get the LEDS to turn on
because VIRTUALDJ in GENERAL MIDI is not possible to send
commands - ONLY receive.

I can show you ,if you like, a small sample of my .XML with
only the part that has to do with the JOGS.

Thanks guys. Bought my VCI-300 during the week and love the hardware, but pretty disappointed with Itch - the auto beatmatching is far behind Virtual DJ and the graphic overview of the tracks is nowhere near as detailed (e.g. picking out quiet periods, etc).

So thinking I'll stick with Virtual DJ for now, at least until they improve the basic shortcomings in Itch. Really appreciated all the advice on this thread in getting it working with the VCI-300.

I still have a few issues which I'm wondering if anyone's solved?

Big issues:
1. Can't use the jog wheels to pitch bend (i.e. tweak beat matching tracks and align the peaks) like in Itch
2. The Auto Tempo button doesn't work (i.e. doesn't correspond to the Sync function) - instead it does a Loop Out

Small issues:
3. None of the buttons light up on the unit (not sure if this is possible)
4. Can't figure out how to load tracks from the controller
5. The Cue In/Out buttons seem to work erratically

Much appreciate any help or pointers on these. Meanwhile I'll get into the midi to see if I can fix... will post any progress.

I can help if you want... but still you are not going to make the lights and pitch working
because native support is needed (something that is not implemented in GENERAL MIDI learning mode).
