I've tried 6 ways from Sunday to map the buttons using the Virtual DJ 5.2 Pro with the Hercules interface. There is no way the buttons change from their original factory settings. What am I doing wrong? Please help. Thanks

You must use the RMX skin to select from the available effects for the buttons. Right-click on the corresponding skin's button and select from the menu.

I already tried that, they do not change at all, but remain the same. Any other suggestions?

Hello spacecowboy_uk20,
You don't mention the same issue as djpatrickperez: djatrickperez cannot map any other effect on the buttons 1 to 6 than the default effects, while you can map the effects on the buttons 1 to 6, your issue is only that the map is lost each time you close VirtualDJ.
djpatrickperez,
1) Is the remapping of effects on the buttons 1 to 6 functional in VirtualDJ DJC 5?
2) Have you tested with VirtualDJ Pro 5.2.1?

Hello,
I am also having the same problem as space cowboy, where selecting the assignments with the RMX once the software is restarted they revert back to default, I am using V5.2.1.
The solution is to change the soundcard setting to 4.1 from DJ Console RMX.
However, when I do this, I don't get as good performance from the RMX in regards to sound quality.

I can't find where I can change the default buttom mapping in vdj 5.2. In previous version, I could do it in the remote control tab inside config window. Now, I am only able to active or deactive the RMX control, but I can't change the buttom mapping.
Can anyone help me?
Thank you

Unfortunately you can't do it like that anymore with the 5.2 release...you need to download the RMX skin from the skin section, and from there you can change the button assignments

Ok so new to this whole re mapping thingo..
I have the Hercules 4-MX and I want to change the Distorter as the standard effect and change it to Flanger.
Which file do I need to edit and where is it on the Mac?
Is there also a way to add a function say "Length" for loops? instead of or as well as loop timing?
Sorry about this.. Just cant seem to find the right files to change these things around.
THanks

If you are using the Pro trial, then you can trigger any effect of your choice by changing the mapping of a button to:
effect 'Name' active (Where Name is the name of the effect.)
Loops of different lengths can be triggered using loop 2, loop 4, etc. (Where the number is the length in beats.)
Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/homepage/jpboggis/blogs/4149/VDJscript_Mapping.html for basic mapping instructions.
NOTE: To use custom mappings after the trial, you will need to upgrade to the full VirtualDJ Professional at a discount: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

You can edit mappings by going to CONFIG -> Mappers and choosing the appropriate device in the drop-down list.
Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/homepage/jpboggis/blogs/4149/VDJscript_Mapping.html for basic mapping instructions
Or you can edit the XML files directly in My Documents\VirtualDJ\Mappers, but this is not recommended unless you know what you are doing.
If you wish to edit a skin, then you would need to edit the XML file of the appropriate skin ZIP file in My Documents\VirtualDJ\Skins - Or you could try the skin editor tool: http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/tools.html
Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Skin%20SDK%20.html for information on skin development. You can also ask questions in the skins forum: http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/13/VirtualDJ_Skins.html
