Rip vinyl is an amazing little utility.
It has an "auto cue" /auto record feature.
Recording start/stop automatically when the sound
starts/stops...
It also, apply RIAA on the fly, "trim" (crop) the file, normalize it if you want, and compress it with lame.
Beware the slider on the top, sometimes it must be down to avoid feedback.
