VCI-300
The VCI-300 comes with a built-in audio interface with standard 4in/4out and headphone connection, larger & lighter JOG wheels, JOG torque adjustment and other new features!

More news about it to come...

This takes care of my main problem with the VCI-100:

Lack of a soundcard (needed on a unit that size, in a small booth)

And also the jog wheels, the colour and lower buttons are improved.

This is the best "all in one" I've seen, definitely a far more serious option than the toys released of late.

It would certainly serve as a great controller on those occasions when the venue doesn't have a mixer installed.

Looks pretty cool. But with the $500USD MSRP of the VCI-100, I'm sure it's going to be pricey for those on tighter budgets.

I wonder what the specs are on the soundcard...

Finally! I've had the VCI for the past 3 months and love it EXCEPT you have to use an External Mixer to crossfade with because even with a great soundcard, You can't cue and there is absolutely no support for it to do otherwise. I work at the Most expensive club in Detroit's History(MGM Grand Casino) in a 4 million dollar club and Im the only one who uses VDJ. The others use Serato and think VDJ is the Playskool version although my program does more. They all hate the fact I have to multitask 2 mixers to do one simple mix. Oh well. Rane is King I guess, but I still like the Joker.. Maybe one day my fantasies of the perfect support in simple mixing will come true!.... Let me know when this one comes out!!!!!!!!!!

Use Ecler Nuo4 mixer, and you have same setup as a SSL dj have with the Rane mixer

IF thats what you are looking for :)

I have the Ecler NU04. The problem is that the club Im at uses a Allen Heath. With any mixer other than the 04, It doesn't make any sense that when a channel that is properly hooked up via the Maya Can't be cued through the Headphones unless its played. Why is that? Sound can come through the fader or pot, but not the PFL??? It's killing me, especially when I use any of the my Midi controllers that respond perfectly OTHER than that.

I would also agree that you're setting it up incorrectly.

If you are using a normal mixer, such as the Allen & Heath, a Maya44 soundcard, and a VCI-100 then you need to set up slightly differently to how you imagine. Because the VCI is a MIDI mixing device, you need to use VDJ's internal mixer.

Basically in this setup, if you want the VCI-100 to do the mixing, then you need to set the following on the "Sound Setup" tab:

Inputs: None
Outputs: Headphones
Sound Card: ASIO (or Maya44)

Now you assign one set of outputs to the headphones, and one to the master. Connect the assigned master output on the Maya44 to a channel on the A&H mixer. This channel should be left turned up - this is your output.

With the second connection on the Maya44 - the headphones - you have two options. You can either connect a set of headphones directly to it - but you may find this is not ideal as it may not be very loud. The other option is to connect this channel to the A&H as well, set the A&H to cue that channel and leave the channel level down and connect up your headphones. This will allow the use of the mixers headphone output which will probably be significantly louder.

Before you say "it doesn't work" like your other thread: I use this type of setup myself every week. The M-Audio Xponent works in the same way, except that instead of a Maya44, the sound card is built in to the controller. However, because the mixer and soundcard are effectively two seperate devices, I need to use VDJs internal mixer and headphone setup in exactly the way I have already mentioned.

I hope this helps you get everything working :)

Regards,

Scott

I know it's a long time getting back, but I did get it to work perfectly, I just misunderstood a simple process and read it all wrong. I appreciate your help. I have been doing video perfectly with all the plugins, fx, etc. I wish the newer vestex had as many knobs to tweek the plug parameters most of them have like the VCI-100. I love the new layout and soundcard built in, etc. I only wish it wasn't only so Serato friendly.

VDJ is my king. I have Serato and hardly touch it and I am a 20 year veteran of 1200's. The upgrades are awesome.

Thanks again.

I went to my local Pro DJ hardware store today to purchase a Hercules RMX, and while I was there they called Vestax. Vestax gave the indication (not confirmed) that the VCI-300 is not going to be available until sometime in September! Which is interesting because Serato (http://www.serato.com/forum/discussion/78616) says it should be out mid June!

BTW Serato has a site now dedicated to ITCH (software that comes with VCI-300) http://www.serato.com/itch and according to the Vestax site http://pcdj.vestax.com/en/products/vci300_03.html does not have 4 IN and 4 OUT so I guess no time code support for VDJ, only MIDI control, hopefully future versions of VDJ incorporate native support for the VCI-300.

The £500 price tag is a bit expensive IMO, sop I'll be sticking with the 100 for now.
