This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi Guys,

I took delivery of a new Toshiba X200-219 yesterday, spent the day loading on VDJ, transferring my music etc and generally getting it ready to take to wok last night.

The Laptop arried with a yellow line on the screen (dcreen fault, not driver issue) so will be replaced, but I decided to try it out anway, with the view being if I don't like it, when the new boxed replacment arrives I can either send it back unopened and sealed for a refund.

It came with ots of Toshiba brand bundled software/utilities, which I removed straight off, apart from that I didn't make any changes to the laptop configuration or set up.

I dived straight in with 'full perormance' settings on VDJ and my Maya44usb set to 'fast'

I set up the SLI graphics so 1 card powered the laptop and the second card supplied the output.

It worked a dream, no problems at all and I was very impressed. I run VDJ with Sonique, Text2D, screen resizer, titler and show logo turned on, and the CPU performance ws about the 30% mark. (While playing videos it was considerably lower, about 20%)

I've only used it once, so I will add to this as I go along with any extra info, or answer ny questions people have if they are thinking of buying this machine.

Full specification is here:

Very nice Gary, hope it serves you well. I've got a mid range Satellite pro, it's only a bady compaired to your new one, but I've had it now for about 7 months with no big issues.

I don't do video yet so I haven't pushed mine but it does the job I want it to do.

Don't you hate all that crap thats pre installed on them.

Yes, I thought my HP was bad for installed software but the Tosh is even worse!! How much stuff do they think we need? I guess they think it adds value to to purchase price, but its just a pain in the arse. I had about 15 icons in the bottom right of my screen when I first booted up!!

It takes you longer to uninstall all the crap, than it does to set windows up.

I had Norton installed on mine, I use Mcafee, don't like Norton so I had to try and get rid off it, it was a right b*****d to shift.

Ok, well Toshiba replaced the laptop, and i've done a couple of gigs with it.

I'm extremely happy with this set-up. No tweaking needed at all and i'm running on best performance settings with the Maya44usb on 'fast'

I use mainly videos and have about 3 or 4 plug-ins running at the same time.

Its a joy to use

Gary
