In OZ we go the hack.
Kill the buzz by cutting the earth prong. No prob.
Safety switches are compulsory here !!!!
you can stick a metal object in the mains and not get electricuted, but i would not recommed doing this on a regular basis...lol
i guess we r luck down under.

Electrocuted = DEAD
Die = DEAD
How is being dead worse than being dead!!???

That was quite a heated topic everypne made good arguments. However there is a easer solution to this issue run a ground wire from your mixer to your laptop (a screw on the bottom of your laptop or something like that will work) same as grounding a turntable. There are methods to get rid of the ground wire on turntables so be creative do the homework. This has worked for me I found the info surfing the net. Anyway who dosen't have a peice of wire to give it a try. Keep the buzz down and the vinyal spinning. RR

Quite simply because electrocution isn't fatal! Unless it's a lethal electrocution. Being patronising doesn't work well when you're wrong!

Have you ever used turntables before? Did you not use the ground for them? How a bought your amp? If what you said were true then you would get killed when you touch your mixer. And the word electrocuted {http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrocuted} means killed, what you should have said is (you could get shocked or possibly electrocuted) It's a common mistake made by many I will forgive you for that one but not for false information. I'm not going to get into complex details on electricity or electronics however I will restate do your homework before you lead the inexperienced in the wrong direction.

Sorry mate, but you're wrong again, epic fail! If you've been electrocuted, you're dead!
As taken from the dictionary;
e·lec·tro·cute (ĭ-lěk'trə-kyōōt') Pronunciation Key
tr.v. e·lec·tro·cut·ed, e·lec·tro·cut·ing, e·lec·tro·cutes
1. To kill with electricity: a worker who was electrocuted by a high-tension wire.
2. To execute (a condemned prisoner) by means of electricity.
Look it up yourself if you don't believe me ;)

But more importantly, if you knew anything about electronics, you'd do exactly as tophouse is saying (he is factually 100% correct! even though he doesn't know the meaning of electrocute, hehe!)...NEVER REMOVE THE GROUND PIN...
I get shudders just thinking about how potentially dangerous that could be....yikes!
Simple rule, if you don't know EXACTLY what you're doing don't play with it, the ground pin is there for a reason!
Also if you're tampering with your electronics and you hurt someone else, like a guest at a gig, just watch the lawsuit hit you in the face!
But most importantly why risk your life and someone elses when a ground loop isolator only cost $15? It's simply not worth it!

Also DO NOT rely on RCD switches to save you, they will only save you if you ground the active, but not if you short active and neutral!
Also as far as I can think if your power supply adapter for you laptop only has two pins, as most do, then removing the ground pin from the main plug will do NOTHING to remove the noise created by your laptop?

And if you had read the FULL page that you quoted instead of just quoting the first example, you would have seen, (on the same page) :-
electrocute
Verb
[-cuting, -cuted] to kill or injure by an electric shock [electro- + (exe)cute]
electrocution n
Try and be a smart ass all you want, I'm a fully qualified electrician, are you?
Your link :-
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/electrocute
And from the Oxford Dictionary, recognised as the definitive english dictionary :-
electrocute
• verb injure or kill by electric shock.
— DERIVATIVES electrocution noun.

So by reading this definition it would appear that we are both correct, even though on your link only one of three definition sources says that to be electrocuted isn't to be killed, only injured!.... so I don't see how you get off on calling me wrong and a smartass, it would appear that we're 'both as bad as each other'!
Also don't assume my sources, I pulled the definition from here, http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/electrocute there are 7 definitions on that page, ALL of which agree with me!
Cheers to my fellow smartass! :P

electro cute ... hum... good name for electro mix for sure ;)
But as said, NO NOT remove ground pin, get a ground loop eliminator from your local radio store instead, and follow the advices from TopHouse.
Great tips and thread TopHouse :)
