Topic: Those of you using PCs vs Laptops, what are you using to carry your rig?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

My entire rig will have to include:
mixer
pc
monitor
2 1200s
and uh, 2 records and slip mats.

Just wondering what your doing for transportation..

Pics would be nice.

Well, here's mine:

In there I have:

15" Mounted Flat Screen
Numark Mixer DM1090x
DAC 3
Mini keyboard
Mouse
Euro 4E Light Control Unit
Personal CD player for back
Gooseneck powered pc light for when it's too dark

A bit heavy, but all in one so i don't mind the weight. I carry my desktop seperately and just plug in. Full setup takes about 10/15 mins.

I have a case that I built myself. It holds the mixer and dual cd player (still haven't gotten around to taking it out) Also has a BBE and a power pro ( for multiple plugins).
The is flat when closed, but when set up you can adjust the angle.
I also have a second case to hold the monitor. keyboard etc.
I am going to revamp the systerm as soon as the wheater get a bit warmer here.
I would attach pics but can't figure out how.
If you know how to attach pics. I will do so.

Rack Gator GRC 10x6
rackmount pc 4U (amd 64 3200+, asus a8n-sli, 2GB corsair cl2, ati radeon x550 128 Mb, m-audio delta 1010 soundcard)
dac3
numark cm200usb mixer
asus g2p laptop for backup (I use the laptop with channel 3&4 of the mixer-usb chanel)
I think the laptop is better on video than the rackmount pc because of the dual core2duo processor.

Totally off topic, but a bit related to a question on this thread.

To get images into a post...just upload them to the site using your blog features, and then insert the url code using the bb code function when creating your post.

Yup, a fully loaded 10x6 is a heavy beast.
Check my blog for my building history.

I have tucked a Shuttle 25 inside a retired Odyssey case to lighten up the load, great system that cost less than a comparable laptop and has 2,000 gigs of storage inside.
Also added a 19" monitor that gets to ride in a padded laptop case further reducing the weight.

@mariushallangos
That is what blogs are for my friend, glad you scooped some ideas.

I had a solo gig with my back out and my system down a flight of stairs, that was the point where I decided to down size.
That friggin Pioneer mixer is 17lbs alone, the Xsessoin that took it's place is 3 I think.
I went from 118 lbs to 70 with that move and less with the monitor in a separate bag now.
The bag I got holds my 19" monitor as well as my Sony laptop which I use for lighting and back up.

BTW, The monitor that came out of the mix, got velcro'd to my TV stand for karaoke, works pissa.

Wow... these kind of threads make me glad I only do club work now and don't have to lug speakers, amp, mixer, etc. LOL

I carry my "rig" very easily. 17" widescreen laptop, Hercules MK2, and my book of DVDs just in case I have laptop troubles.... all go into my Targus XL Backpack. :D

Piece of cake.
