Finally a site to legally download music video's:
www.7digital.com
I have been waiting for something like this for ages!!! They have quite alot of rock / indie stuff, a bit of pop and urban stuff but hardly any dance. Just hope they expand soon and have sub categories for all the differnt types of music.
The best bit is the video's only cost £1.77 each. No need to go and buy a DVD with 30+ video's on only to find out you might only ever play 1 or 2 off it !!!
If you know of any other sites where you can download music video's legally please list them here.
Cheers!

Using this currency converter:
http://www.xe.com/ucc/
They are $3.48 or €2.69 each !!!
They are in WMV format, super fast downloading times too :D
So paying £40.00 (or $78.79) for a DVD full of stuff you don't even want could be a thing of the past!

How is the quality as compared to a Promo Only VOB??
Posted Thu 18 Jan 07 @ 12:41 am
To quote the site:
"All of our Video's are DVD quality, downloadable videos are available as WMV files, with a resolution of 640x480 pixels. That is twice the size that you will receive from most other download services!"
For me the video quality is fantastic especially the audio quality. I'm going to be spending loads of money on that site!
Who play's vob's anyway? It's like ripping a CD to WAV. How many Dj's play WAV's instead of MP3s? (Rich one's with massive hard drive's).

djs who want to offer superb and professional quality services use the highest quality music and video formats. hard drives are so inexpensive these these days (1 TB for less than US $700). I encode my mp3s at 320 kbps and use .vob format for videos. I understand that this may not be reasonable for everone, but higher quality WILL set you apart from your competitors (ive landed several gigs just by showing my videos were better quality than the dj preceding me).

Got to agree with DJKizzle, .VOB is non compressed and with the price of harddrives I don't know why you wouldn't want to use VOB. Trying to compare .VOB to WAV is like apples and oranges, there is just no comparison. Also VOB is 720X480 so these files are not as good as VOB.

Ok did you manage to get them to play in VDJ?? If so then how?? If I use the internal decoder it won't load and if I use WMP it just errors. These are DRM WMV, did you get them to play in VDJ, they play in WMP 10 fine.

I only use .vob files, because hard drives are not an issue. My mp3's are 320kps also. I will look for some positive feedback from you guys, before I give it a try.

I got one file but cant get it to play in VDJ, plays in Media Player. Quality isn't as good as what we get from Promo, but I won't know til I can try it out on the screens.

same hera. I just downloaded one and had to get a license to play on wmp. How do we play these on vdj?

PM me if you want instructions on how to get DRM WMV files to play with Virtual DJ. Not sure if I'm allowed to post the info here?

I bought one and removed the DRM, I was then able to play it on VDJ but the video was blank. So I had to use Sony Vegas to recode it to Mpeg-2.
It's cost me $3.60 and the process took a lot of time. It also states in their terms of service "designed to enable you to purchase legal online music with others. Unless stated otherwise the Services are for your personal and non-commercial use only"
I don't think this is the answer I'm looking for, looks like Promoonly will continue dipping deep into my bank account. :^)

I see trouble with this thread as the DRM has to be removed and the video needs re-encoded to MPEG. Now if VDJ would support WMV which has DRM this could be somethin to look into, me personally I don't want to risk everything to download videos, but maybe I will try 1 or 2 to see the quality.

Thank you guys for beta testing this. This is waaaay too much time and effort, for a lower quality video.
Some may like this, but it is not for me.

For $50.00 USD a month, you can use htttp://www.my12inch.com which lets you legally download the newest Dance / Hip-Hop / Ragaeeton / House music and music videos. They dont charge per video or song. It's a digital record pool basically. They also have a section of the site that sells remixes for .99 cents which now includes a good list of music videos as well. The format is .mp4, so you will need to change the ".mp4" file format in Virtual DJ to Windows Media, and possibly download a codec. So Far, I have downloaded 169 available videos from the site, and they are always being used at the club.
I also have alot of these video's cue'd up, so when I get a chance, I will upload my db file for you guys to import as soon as my arm is healed up from my fracture I got snowboarding.

Do you have to give feedback for all the music vids? I know you do for the audio tracks. I saw the list of videos they have online, but didn't see much dance tracks as you mentioned.
Any way you can upload a clip from one of the vids so we can see the quality? If you take a clip of the video its going to degrade the quality because you are recompressing the file. But if you render the clip as a normal .avi we will be able to see the qualiy (the file will be bigger of course...but without the quality loss)
