Hi my name is Kenny,

I have been a DJ since 1984.

I bought Virtual DJ a couple of years ago in Atlantic City but never used it.
I am seriously considering getting into video mixing and getting Numark’s Virtual Vinyl (whenever it is released). I am also considering getting the Numark D2 (whenever it is released) for my mp3 files. I've been using PCDJ for years and have over 500gb filled with music.

I have several questions about Virtual DJ.

1. I use x-keys controllers for my systems. I have many of PCDJ's commands programmed into the keys and want to use the same PCDJ shortcut commands for Virtual DJ.
- Is there a way I can change Virtual DJ's keyboard shortcuts to match PCDJ's? (please explain with detail).

2. Can I use a keyboard shortcut command to load a song? (I don't like the drag and drop option)

3. When virtual vinyl comes out. I would like to use ONE turntable and use a keyboard shortcut to control both decks (This is possible with Serato Scratch Live).
- Is it, or will this be possible with Virtual Vinyl?

4. Will I be able to record my video mixes onto DVD with decent quality?

5. Does Virtual DJ read ID3 tags?

6. Can I play my Karaoke files the same way as with PCDJ?

Thank you,
I've been reading posts from this website for about a month now and I am anxious to start mixing video as soon as I get a laptop with a good video card.

I would also like to program all of the samples into individual keys for my X-Keys controllers.

Please help

These are the X-Keys controllers that I use:

The X-Keys (58 key) proffessional and the X-Keys foot pedal.

check it out.

Why buy any more, you have all that you need in VirtualDJ - Numark VV is VirtualDJ with the Numark logo and VV name. No need for the D2, it's stand alone - won't interface with anything.
VirtualDJ will do your video and audio mixing all in one.

Since you mentioned you bought VDJ a couple of years ago. Send a message here http://www.virtualdj.com/contact and see about getting updated to 4.2 - which depending on what you bought - the upgrades may be free. I think you will be really amazed at the improvements.

Thank you skyfxl and cstoll, for replying to my messages.

Skyfxl.
I am very familiar with making macros with the x-keys software.
I am interested in matching Virtual DJ’s keyboard commands to the ones that I have from PCDJ, this way I wouldn’t have to create new macros.

Cstoll.
You asked: why buy Numark D2 and Virtual Vinyl when I already have Virtual DJ?
- It looks like I can eliminate using a computer with the D2, I can afford it and if it may make my job easier, Why not?

I do want to use a computer if I get into video mixing. I figure that I can use the Numark D2 for mp3s and a laptop if I need to use videos.

You also asked: Why Buy Virtual Vinyl when I already have Virtual DJ?
- I bought Virtual DJs time code vinyl but my sound card is not compatible.
I don’t need Numark’s software but I would like to have their soundcard which is built to support the software without problems.

Thanks again for your replies.

Thanks for the quick reply,

Is there another way of loading songs instead of drag and drop?

Can I use a keyboard shortcut?
