Topic: Touch Decision iCDX - Denon DNS-3500 - or even Pioneer?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

It's a real tough choice.

I've sold some of my gear and have some cash now, so I am putting together a compact coffin style CD setup to replace my SL1210 rig because it's just too bulky and heavy.

I was going to buy iCDX, but they've come in a bit more expensive in the UK so now they're not very much different in price to a couple of Denon DN-S3500 (and they come with free flightcase usually £150) - Bearing in mind, though that I will still keep my DAC-3 in a compact setup cos it just works so well.

pros and cons

ICDX
works straight away with VDJ
Numark quality good but not same reputation as Denon ???
connect keyboard and hard drive and use without computer for small gigs
use as CD/DVD player
Cons
take a risk on new product in early stage of development
resale value unclear

Denon DNS-3500
Works straight away with VDJ using TCCD
Denon quality very high reputation
Spinning Platter (I'm used to Vinyl so I like it)
use MP3 discs with 150 songs on each without computer for smaller gigs
Can still play video through VDJ if I want
Established product with great reputation and firmware updates
Cons
Not as integrated into VDJ as Numark iCDX
good resale value

This choice is eating me up. Both are probably excellent choices. What would you do?

I would sell my 3500 in a heartbeat, but I need it right now since I can't do much with my cdj200's. I need something to cut it up and do a few tricks on, and I use it for my 3rd deck(backup).
Go with the Pioneer over the Denon, but I don't know much about the Numark one.

CDJ800 mk2's would work fine, but I myself would spring for the cdj1000's.
That's just me though.
