i realize that in order to use the timecoded cds you need a soundcard with 4 mono inputs (2 stereo) correct? the mobile pre has in 2 instrument and 2 mic inputs...is it possible to get a cable that would be able to plug into the mic input and use this with the time coded cds?

It is correct that you will need 4 mono inputs. It is hard to tell if it will work. Microphone inputs have another input impedance than line in. Then another issue could be that the mic channels are not seen as seperate channels and therfore could not be setup with VDJ to 1 stereo channel. Probably the latency between the different inputs could also be a problem.
The only way to know for sure is testing. Buy or create the proper cables and test it. If it is working ok, you could use this setup. Otherwise you probably need to buy another sound card.
