Topic: Green Light Bulbs?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I've been trying like crazy to find one in a regular bulb shape that's 100 or more watts. I thought being so close to hallows that it would be easy to find, wrong. It seems like the only party light color bulbs any of the stores carry is the black light version, and I can't find much more of a selection online either. I did however find some standard bulb party lights in green online, but only 25 watts. The only other thing I can find is a green floodlight http://www.doityourself.com/invt/u172569#review

Would this be too much to just light up my DJ area? I've already got several aluminum lighting umbrellas ideal for such a light, but I'm not sure really how bright this would be. Thanks in advance for any & all input;^]

how bright do you want to go,

the bulbs you are looking at on the link are a standard par 38 size if you find them in a department store typicly they are only going to 100watts and NOT EXPLOSION PROOF, what you want is a par 38, 56, or 64,

par 38's are usualy 250 watts

par 56's are 300w or 500w

par 64's are 500w and 1000w

these bulbs come in narrow spot (nsp), medium flood(mfl), and wide flood(wfl)

the colors you are looking for are avalable in a wide range of color and are refered to as gels, check out
this link http://www.rosco.com/us/filters/roscolux.asp this should give you a idea of what you can get, as a rule of thumb the brighter the bulb you have the richer the color

if you decide to go the cheaper way and use colored bulbs place them behind a screen because the will explode eventualy, trust me, all bulbs will, but the real bulbs have a thicker coating of glass in the front, so the worst thing that will happen is that they will crack, instead of covering a croud with broken shards of glass

good luck

the par can is exactly what you need, you should be able to find one used

you will need multiple lights and a controller if you want that 1234 chase pattern, rather than the "static" on look

50 bucks is a hard number to hit for a lighting system, hell my lighting system is over a quarter mill, but if you watch the papers, and check out the pawn shops you might luck out
