Topic: Is this better ?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

This may seem like a stupid question ,but I know a lot of you have more computer background
so please lay some of your thoughts here for those of us who are less informed .

Is there any advantage to running XP Pro and VDJ on one drive (say 60 or 80 gb)
and keeping all your music on one or more other drives ? Also ,is it wiser or faster to keep your OS
on a moderate size drive ,does this help it's seek and find rates etc.?
Are larger drives slower on retreval than smaller ones?

I think you can see where my thoughts are heading or why I ask ,,Is more bigger better or many smaller better?*S*

its better to keep the music on a different drive than the OS , yes:)

regarding the size of the HD and the OS, I'm not really sure about that

The best solution would be to use windows on one disk and music on other disk (possibly in RAID), so you would need 3 disks (+2 for security reasons of your music files). But all you really need is one disk, and YES, i also have another one with music only :)

It is best to keep music and software on seperate drives. This allows your computer to work at peak effeciency. A RAID is best for the music. Depending on the RAID type, it can allow for redunancy. More importantly, it will reduce slowness by increasing the read time of the music. Especially when previewing or multi-instances of vdj.
