Wouldnt do such a thing:)

It will be released as soon as its finished...

It always cracks me up when people try to get realistic software release dates from software developers. How long does it take to fix a list of bugs? There is absolutely no way to determine that. NO WAY. The next software developer that can give me an accurate timeframe on how much time it takes to develop and debug a software application, well be the first. It's not uncommon to take all the development work that's in front of you,... make GENEROUS estimates on how much development time it will take,.. pad it maybe 10% and then double that time estimate. Seriously. When they told you in January, that it would be ready in March, I'll guarantee they SERIOUSLY thought it would be done in February.

I understand that everyone is anxious,.. no one is more anxious than me, but anyone who thinks they can give an accurate time estimate on when the software will be finished has never developed software before.

Kinda reminds me of another very much anticipated piece of software.... Halo 3 (For all you gamers out there.) The most you will get as far as a release date is the year, thats it!

I predict it will be out sooner and be much more bug-free than Vista.... :-)

That comment reminds me of Duke Nukem forever. I think it won three years in a row for Wired Magazine vaporware of the year award. http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,70143-0.html?tw=wn_story_page_prev2

The problem is that when I purchased the software, it was specifically for its video abilities. I read every post on this (and every other DJ forum I could find) with the word "video" on it.
I built a rackmount video PC that exceeded anyone's reccomendations and bought the software off the VDJ website. I subscribed to Promo Only, and thought I was going to have a KILLER video system.

VDJ says "FULL VOB SUPPORT" which is exactly how I ripped my entire library. Nobody mentioned ANYTHING about the fact that VOB's engine cannot support VOB's @ 48kz. I had to find out the hard way.
When I initially inquired I was told to try all sorts of different EQ settings, but the audio still sounded like crap (the video looks fantastic). Gradually other DJ's started reporting the same problems as me. It was only then that someone from the VDJ camp stated that "oh yeah, it does VOB, but it doesn't REALLY do VOB". A VOB in its native form is 48khz audio (DVD quality) and VDJ currently only supports 42khz.

So now I've got this uber-powerful video box sitting in my office gathering dust. I didn't do this for the audio, I've got Serato, CDJ1000's, and Denon DNS5K's for that.
Control surface for VDJ, I've got an Allen & Heath XONE:3D.

So I sit and wait for VDJ to make good on what I thought I was getting from the beginning.

I'm not angry, just dissapointed.

I'm the opposite Clay. I have no need for video capability. I only mix music. I'm hoping for mostly focus on the audio side, but you can't please everyone. I also didn't know there were that many people that mix with video as well.

I have one suggestion for those who waits so bad for v4 to come out: install VDJ 1.0 , play with it couple of hours. After that, you WILL love your 3.4 :)))) .
V4 will come when it is ready, not a moment sooner! Topic closed :) lol .

Don't feel so bad I have a BCD 2000 collecting dust also. Also about ten other peices of hardware doing the same thing. Either they are out dated or the manufacturer decided it was to expensive to continue with software development and wasn't making enough profit to keep it alive.Example is the American Dj controller that can't be used with other software and the software included needs to be fixed. American Dj left us high and dry. So has Behringer on the BCD 2000 it seems. So we have to look elseware for help. VDJ is the best choice and the only choice if you wan't good software.

I feel comfortable in saying no one lets a serious investment like Atomix has in v4 setting around for the right moment to release. I think that they would prefer to be selling it rather than admiring it.

Clay is right, the audio for video is less than perfect. Where I disagree, is I don't want a piece of software that has perfect sounding audio when I play music videos if every time I use a certain effect and it crashes. Neither are good.

I can say that VDJ history of releasing software should be evidence that they are willing to try. The fact that we have internal staff and VIP members who apparently are using it says that it does exist. I just don't beleive it is setting on a shelf waiting for the right time.

V3.4 is still eon's more advanced than what I was using and look forward to the day it's released

For the record.....
There are many of us out there running and testing this beta LIVE, taking the chance that it will fail LIVE.
It has failed, I have recovered, and we move on awaiting the next beta one after another.

So please be carefull and thoughtfull with what you post on this matter.

Also keep in mind that beside the large amount of user demands and wishes, that a very big company like Numark also has an agenda and wishes, all of which must be satisfied before any release can come.
When it involves a company the size of Numark, there is no margin for error.
While just as important as us users, it comes with much more severe concequences if it's not perfect the first time around.

I don't think anybody intentionally misled users claiming full vob support.
I think it referred primarily to video support, and we're still the only one to achieve this.

To give you guys an update though, I will say that even on the lowest sound quality setting that the sound is full and rich with 2000 watts behind it. I did an outside gig this weekend and was thrilled with the sound in open air, just clean raw power.
There is still much to be done, so enjoy the stability of 3.4.

Last thing, I promise......
Developpers are people and have feelings too, nobody does their best work when they get hurt.

Peace

Nice one Rick, thanks for the update...
Ewout

only 2000 watts ! so it should sound ok in my bedroom :)

how about giving the vdj radio dj's a betaversion, I'm pretty sure it will give you more listeners ;)

Nothing to do... :)

Nothing to say.... -)
except i'm the one using it live (and take the risk...) the most...
At a beach bar at midday and at a club at night... 5-6 days+nights a week, that means 12 or more hours per day...
How can i work and stand on my feet so much, don't ask... i'm trying and ...beta-testing my limits too...

I want to use it at VirtualDJ Radio but I want to test it a bit more before. :)

OK guys, let me just start off by saying I don't know shit. What I want to know is, why do my vob's look and sound fine, and these other guys are having problems? I did not, nor do I know how to convert the audio portion of the track. I do video all day long, and it sounds just like my audio tracks, great. I have a great sound system in my club (my 8 subs are powered by a Crown 3600VZ), but my mobile rig, also sounds great (mostly 2 Mackie 450s and a Mackie 1501sub). I also can tell the difference between good and bad sound, because I have been doing this for a little while. So, what is going on here? And what is this new BB Code thing at the bottom of this page?

That's the same thing this hooker told me, and of course I said no. C'mon, don't make me push the button. OK, I pushed the button, and I told the hooker yes.
