Topic: What's best soundcard to monitor w/ headphones?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Two problems: My laptop only has one output jack (headphones) but I want to be able to cue a song while another is playing. I have a card slot into which I insert a Creative Labs sound card enabling me to send two outputs to a mixer (one from the laptop's headphone jack and one from the Creative card) but I get a lot of 'noise' coming thru my speakers. It's not the mixer because I isolated the outputs and bi-passed the mixer. Any suggestions?

You need the full version to be able to use this feature and also need some audio splitters if you only have 1 output
