Topic: crush effect, somebody knows what it means?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

In the new mixtable DJM800, there is a sound color I am trying to make.

For Filter and Sweep, it's ok.
But concerning the crush effect, I need to know what kind of sound effect is made.

its possibly a bit cruncher, like reducing the resolution of an image file.
basically pixelating an audio stream

I agree with djzero, I watched a video of djm800 and crush effect seems to be an "under-sampling" of the signal (in french "sous-echantillonage").
For example, the signal contains value defined in the interval [min, max] .
Each element of this interval is separated by q which is "the step of quantification" (in french "le pas de quantification"). So the number of elements contained in this interval depends of q.
I think crush effect reduces the q, and more you turn the sound color button more the q is reduced, so the sound is degraded.
I saw that there is 2 modes of crush, if you turn the sound color button to the right there is a low bass and if you turn it to the left there is a low High.
