Topic: Can't see effects .dll files in windows 98 - am I going Mad!!! [solved]

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi

The answer I'm sure is that I am really going mad but just in case, you might be able to help.

Last night I installed VDJ on my old windows 98 laptop. worked fine, cos it has enough processor power if I don't do silly things.

Then I tried to transfer the effects files using a cd from my xp destop to the win98 laptop.

When I look for the effecs files with the cd in the laptop, they just don't show, even though folder properties knows there are 40 files there.

I thought it might be a directX problem, but I have installed DirectX 8 a few days ago.

Hope you can help!!

Andy

It seems it was a problem of SYSTEM FILES VIEW.

I don't remember in Win98 where is it exactly, but on W2000 or XP you can go to:

MyPC > TOOLS > FOLDER OPTIONS > SHOW (or VIEW)

And then uncheck the HIDE SYSTEM FILES option.

I read you solved other way, but for other users or if it happens again...
