I have for a long time now wanted a external Controller to VDJ,
Something like XP10 or DAC-2. But i think the cost for them is
to much. Also it would be more fun to build my own ;-)

I have now finally found a cheap and simple way to do one.
The technology tests are now done and the concept works
really good.

The base of it is the Velleman K8055 USB EXPERIMENT INTERFACE BOARD.
(http://www.velleman.be) This is a cheap USB based general input/output board.
I'm also adding multiplexing to the inputs to add more input channels. I use this IO board since its cheap and is USB-based, but any would work.

I have also written a program that communicates with it.
For example: If i push a button on it, it reads that and send
a keystroke to VDJ. So, the way i controll VDJ is by sending keystrokes
to it. So, ANYTHING i can control via Keyboard shortcuts in VDJ,that
i can trigg from the external USB card.

I first had "some" problem with getting VDJ to accept my keystrokes,
but after a while i solved that and now it works 100%.

Since i would like to do a solution that almost anyone can build
if they want, i'm now thinking on what is the best functionality
to have ? Should i do just a simple one deck controller like XP10
or a dual controller like DAC-2 ? What features do you think that
it should have ? How many buttons, Should it have a built
in "real" mixer etc.

Any input would really help.

Thanks ...

sounds cool but i wouldnt have a clue............depends how you work tho. if you ahve the opertunity to create something totaly different and approach everythign in a way that you feel will maximize your DJing then it would be silly to coppy something else. follow your heart lol
