i`ve been rippin my cd`s to mp3 over the past couple of days, when i listen back usin vdj i can here a slight crackle now and again, is this normal? i ripped the tracks with audiograbber at 192kbs

try playing the wav file itself. before encoding. if the wav file crackles then it is your rip that is causing the problem. if your rip is bad, of course the encode will be bad as well. if it is the rip, then it's either a problem with your cd, your cd-rom drive or the software you are using is not working hard enough to remove inconsistensies, jitter and the like.

or the latency on your soundcard is slightly too low, try increasing it abit (say the next slot up). it sounds like it is losing some infomation because it is trying to process too fast

yes latency/soundcard buffer can do that, i was wondering if you try to just play the cd in VDJ without ripping and let the program just play the wav from memory, that can help determine the problem also. What are you using to rip?
