Topic: playing out with atomix and a laptoop

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I've been using atomix since it's relaease as virtual dj and it's proved an excellent tool for playing out live at parties. But having to lug around a big PC, monitor and all the other crap needed makes it a pain. I'd love to set up a laptop just for this purpose but I'd want to run it so I can just plug it into a mixer from two soundcards and get the same quality I'd get from PC setup or decks. Does anyone know of a way you could set up two soundcards in a laptop or would a 3d soundcard do the job. (I think the sony laptops have 3d sound).
If anyone has some ideas on this I'd love to know.
thanks purplebaby

One other thing.. how can you get two soundblaster lives running at the same time?

I think this thing could be very interseting for laptop users : 4 (!) stereo out channels, 2 stereo in channels, all on usb

http://www.emagic.de/english/products/hardware/emi26.html

but i haven't tried it yet, so if anyone has more information or knows this thing works with atomix, let met know

Most laptops already have an integrated soundcard with a single stereo output and also have PCMCIA expansion slots. You can simply buy a PCMCIA sound card(which shouldn't be too expensive) and you're ready to go.
