Topic: MWM Phase configuration Virtualdj or Serato?
Hi people of the internet :D,
Its there any technical difference between Virtualdj config and Serato config in MWM Phase?
I mean, i have phase configured for Virtualdj. I have tested it with the Serato configuration and it works ok. ( At least what ive mixed ;) )

Thanks

If by configuration in MWM Phase manager you mean timecode, then that is only applicable to phase use in DVS Mode for all programs that understand it (i.e. you would want to select VirtualDJ as the timecode option). Other configuration like color of LEDs on the remotes can affect Phase in both DVS and HID modes.

You'd want to start by reading the VirtualDJ hardware manual for it:

https://www.virtualdj.com/manuals/hardware/other/phase/setup.html

In short: VirtualDJ understands both DVS and HID modes, just like Serato does...you just have to read the manual to understand how to set it up in the mode you desire for VirtualDJ.
Theoretically there shouldn't be a difference in user experience between the two but realistically there will be as the implementations aren't the same. However, as long as it functions the way you expect/without clear flaws when you use it in both cases, then it should be good enough.

Hi, thanks for the answer, i forgot to write DVS mode in the question. :). I thought that maybe there is a difference in the timecode frequency or a high pass filter or something like that between serato an VDJ timecode.

Until now its working (HID mode) okish, sometimes i have serious drift, i disconnect and reconnect phase usb and works fine (tried different usb ports, without any hub also). In general its after scratching with ultrapitch (-20 or more % down pitch) that this drift happens. But its like one or two times, and then it works fine.
Yesterday i had to tap phase twice at night to recalibrate.

Ill check if thats the same with DVS mode (hate the cables).

Thank U.

So for myself it does seem like for most releases there was some drift and connectivity issues, but from b8890 onwards (all Early Access Releases), they've improved the HID processing algorithm enough that it should be useable im most cases without serious drift - if you haven't tried those builds then it would be good to try them and see.

Connectivity issues I largely get resolved by returning the remotes to the receiver, longpressing the buttons to repair/reset the remotes, then putting them on a flat, stationary surface, while waiting for them to complete calibration, then moving them onto the platters.
I also disabled the double tap to calibrate thing.

Thanks for the comments, i enabled early access and disabled the tapping, cause it was sometimes doing that without me doing the tapping on my right deck...hahaha. TIll now, it has no drift, but ill check next Friday all night long :D.
Cheers

Yep I disabled the double tap thing for the same reason - it seemed to do more harm than good. If I want to recalibrate, I just return the remotes to the receiver and do the ateps from there.

I'm glad it worked out for you - the devs really did make it much better in the Early Access releases from b8890 onward, so much so I'm confident in using it in 99% of cases (the 1% I mentioned in another post and realistically in regular scratching/juggling that would never really happen) 🍺
