I'm currently using my backup controller, a Numark dj2go2 touch, and i'm trying to use my laptop speakers with it, but despite making sure that VirtualDJ is using them (i was even asked when i opened up the program itself if i wanted to use those) no sound comes out. What am i missing here ?

Check to make sure your laptop speakers are set as the default output device and check if any of these solve your issue.

So what happens if you unplug the controller and play audio through VirtualDJ to your computer speakers? Do you get sound or not? If it only happens with your controller plugged in then we've isolated it to the controller doing something to cause this issue.
Also out of curiosity, what happens if you play an audio file through another application while VirtualDJ is running and your controller is plugged in?

Can you post here a screenshot of your VirtualDJ Audio setup ?
Also, check these ..
- Your Master Volume knob on the Numark device is not at zero.
- If you use the Starter skin layout, check the Master Volume level at the top of the skin

Tried to do that, if i start VirtualDJ without the controller plugged in, i can actually hear the audio
also any other application outside VirtualDJ with the controller plugged in play audio as normal.

On he bottom right corner of your computers task bar, click on the speaker icon, right click on Sound Settings, and choose realtek audio as your selected audio settings. This will fix your problem

My sound settings are already selected on Realtek audio, i'm still getting the same problem though

Ok, problem solved, i'm an idiot and i didn't notice there were extra volume knobs for both individual music, and they were both turned down by default. Now i can finally start mixing with this little thing.

You mean the channel faders in VDJ? Otherwise, where were they?

Probably the "level" knobs above the deck number.
