but would it "sound better" in extrernal mode? yes it depends on the vinyl and needles. some rips sound very good. others iffy.
i just go to vdj and have my tt plugged into the tt channel on line 4. and press record. save to .wav.
things like audacity dont work with most pioneer drivers. i have severel usb soundcards. but the dj rz actually sounds better.

Hardware is the same.
I don't think you would get any difference in audio quality between internal and external mixer mode for sound recording.
