all the filter folders I have created before works just fine but, creating a new one now does not work.

No issue creating NEW filters folders here.

using the Field "Album" .

I just tried by naming a MP3 file Album to "Anything" so it will only display that one and it's not showing at all.

thanks for trying.

ok, got to the bottom of it.

If you are in ROOT/DIRECTORY/DIRECTORY etc.... selected on the left browser and create the VF there, it won't work.

You must select example, list & advise on the left browser and create VF there, then it works.

thanks.

Great its working.

I was creating a filter folder as sub-folder under "Filters". (FYI)

and this is from the manual, never fully understood how to implement.

would love to understand more, the situation the filter acting on other then, the entire database

the sentence:
"If the folder has focus (highlighted) when the Filter Folder button is pressed, the folder will nest itself inside that folder."

references "folder" and there 3 types of folder being discussed... and does the filter folder auto nest? what ? help ?

---------------

UPDATE: Now understand that the words "Filter folder button" in the above sentence, means the funnel shaped, "create a filter" button, and not the filter itself. It all makes sense now :)

Thanks Adion for the amazing quick reply.

I remember once seeing the scope drop down. Currently the scope menu does NOT show.
(Manual says to click the Advanced box to show the scope)

screenshot of Filter Editor with Advanced checked.

Is this just my install that the scope does not show?

If the filter is in the root already then it won't show since the scope is always the entire database
