Jimmy from VDJ Support assisted me with this one. My Latency was set at 256 which was too aggressive for the device. His recommended change worked.
I use a Pioneer DDJ 1000SRT ... Close Virtual DJ, open the Pioneer Audio utility, slide the fader until 512mb/11ms is displayed.
When you close the utility and reopen Virtual DJ, if your latency setting was set to automatic, it will automatically read the Pioneer Audio Driver utility and display a latency of 512mb.
I stress tested it for approximately 1hr 30min without any signs of the problem reoccurring.
