Topic: Shutting down loosing playlists

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi.
i seem to have a persistant problem in vdj 8.
first i must say im using win 8.1 on that machine.
thing is when i make playlists and all is good.
but while recording it mixing with 4 decks.
it sometimes gives an error and shuts down the entire pc to restart.
when started again all playlist i mixed is gone from the automix menu?
what i dont get is , i have more playlists in it which arent saved either,
because usually i use it to copy it for text docs.
but when this fail happens it completely erases the entire playlist.
last time this happened was from a 4 hour mix and thats alot of tracks to remember . so why is this happening now twice for me ?
i spoke to support and they told me 8.1 is not optimal for use of vdj.
however i been using it for years without any problems whatsoever.
so i really dont get what causes this as it seems to be more frequent now. as i lost a couple of long playlist by this shutdown.
another was 7 hours, which is almost impossible to remember .
any clues ?
my initial thought is some windows update might cause it but i havent found any fails with them in any way.
its the only program doing this on the pc.
is there a limit to how many tracks can be in it ?
last time i had above 248 tracks in it.
what puzzles me is the tracklists that was in it before i made the new is still remembered but all new even those played and mixed are gone.
can i recover them somehow ?
if so how?
its really weird and im out of ideas to fix it hence i write this post in the hope of some kind of help to fix it.
thanks in advance.
P.S.
oh i forgot to say i recently gave vdj full exclusive control over the soundcard while open. could this be why ?
