Topic: OBS not "hearing" VDJ

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

i do use the vdj video function but obs offers more, so i'm playing around with streaming through obs instead of directly from vdj. can someone walk me through the audio settings in vdj i need to do? currently in obs, when i select my ddj sb2 controller as the audio source, it doesn't "hear" the audio since the meter isn't picking anything up , so i imagine it's something to do with vdj output settings.

To "hear" the DDJ-SB2 controller outout, you would either have to route the audio back via cable from the speaker (master) output of the controller to a line-in at the computer. And set OBS to broadcast from the line-in

Or somehow need to "grab/route" the master output directly on the driver. That is often not possible (driver is already taken/ in use), so you would have to use a virtual cable ..
https://vb-audio.com/Cable/ This should do, and popular to use for OBS

Sometimes you can also use "stereo mix" (internal "loopback" on the computer sound card, but might not include the DDJ-SB2, but you could add a 2nd master in VirtualDJ to go to pc sound card)

Hopefully that helps, I dont use OBS, so someone else might have better tips.
Could even be that OBS has such a "sound grab" feature built in, not sure..
