Topic: DDJ SR2 crosfader settings

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hey there,

Recently upgraded to the Pioneer DDJ SR2 and wanted to start introducing scratching into my mixes. Is it possible to map the mic level knob (I don't use a mic, or very rarely) so it changes the mix point of the crossfader i.e. shortening it for scratching and lengthening for when I don't want it?

Thanks in advance for your responses :)

I think the mic level on that unit is hardware based, so that it's simply analog, and doesn't send any midi signals to the laptop that can be picked up

But if you find a midi knob that you don't use, you can simply map it to:
crossfader_curve

If you just want to switch between full (the default) and scratch you can instead map a toggle between the two on a button or keyboard key, using a script like:
crossfader_curve 'full' ? crossfader_curve 'scratch' : crossfader_curve 'full'

There are also a few other ways to control the cross fader curve
Some are shown in this video:
