Topic: NVii Midi Problem

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I just purchased a Numark NVii.
I am using the latest VDJ build and got the prompt that said that the NVii is plug and play.
The controller list does not show an option for
Numark NVii
It only shows
Numark NVii Display Right
Numark NVii Display Left

So I can manually load a song via laptop, it will show up on the display, but none of the hardware controls work
Can I get some help getting it to recognize Numark NVii?

Have you tried a different USB cable/port ?

Any additional USB device/controller connected at the same time ? If so, try without it.

Which Windows Driver have you installed from here ? https://www.numark.com/product/nvii
Not sure when the 1.05 was released, but in the Release notes file i see "Updated driver signature for certain Windows operating systems. "

When the NVII is plugged, do you see the device in Windows Device Manager (under Sound, Video & game controllers) or perhaps a yellow triangle ?

Please do the following...
Open VirtualDJ and goto Settings-->OPTIONS tab
Find the setting "CreateMidiLog" and set it to Yes
Close VirtualDJ
Goto /Documents/VirtualDJ folder and delete the file Log Report.txt
With the NVII connected to the USB, open VirtualDJ
Close again (dont have to do anything else)
Post here the content of the Log Report.txt that has been re-generated from the above location.

Doesnt seem to detect the main unit. Could be a faulty unit, or something went wrong with Windows generic MIDI detection.
Does it work with Serato ?

Try this tool http://www.virtualdj.com/download/miditrace.exe (with VDJ closed)
Do you see 3 Numark NVII devices at the side lists or just 2 ?

Would not work with Serato either.

Midi Trace shows
Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth
4- NV mkII Graphics
4- NV mkII Audio

Restart computer (if you havent done already)
Try with another computer (if available)
If none of the 2 above helps, contact seller, most likely a faulty unit

Looks like the problem exists on 2nd machine also.
Guess this is a hardware issue and I'll have to return it. :(
Thanks for all your help!
