Hi all, I'm wanting to modify fruit's skin but am terrible with graphic editing, really what would take a skinner 5 minutes to draw and host would take me hours. [m$ paint was the start and [current] end of my skinning abilities]

A really simple request, could someone duplicate the transport button graphic, resized by +25% width, maybe 5 or 6 pixels taller, and then 4 over graphics in the default 4 colour and 4 on graphics, just anywhere in the png

I can resize stuff but getting the colour fade I can't figure out, I know I should learn, but I know explaining how to [to a noob] will take longer than actually doing it.

I can do the xml work, I'm wanting to add pad pages to the bottom of the 4 deck external browser skin.
Thanks in advanced.

Why not "borrow" some suitable buttons from another skin (i.e. default)? Simple cut and paste job.

Thanks, honestly didn't think of that [brain is foggy after last night]. I'll give it a go.

You could take a screen grab of your source skin, another of the target skin, stick 'em in an editor then cut a button out and paste it over the target image to check it fits.

I've got at least one Frankenstein skin done that way.

Paint is a real pain when it comes to transparencies.

You should learn GiMP and get used to it.

Gimp is what I've got, it's just a very slow process for me - skinning in general I have to rezip and check every couple of edits it's like cooking a recipe written in a foreign language.I'll give it a go.

If you want a middle ground then I can thoroughly recommend paint.net :)

Also, just work on the image/xml files directly in the skin folder, no need to zip.

though AFAIK to achieve that you need to name both files exactly the same.

With a little practice and organization, the 'zipping-&-watching' process can be quick. For instance, there's a hidden button in my skin to quickly reload itself without going into the settings window.

The image xml property should take care of that IIRC.

I do the same with a keyboard shortcut :)

If you can work on unzipped skins that saves a lot of the pain, and yep I am aware of the reload skin script.

Certainly does, you can leave your XML editor, image editor and VDJ open and just save/reload :)

How do you do this?
I unzipped fruits skin and renamed the folder to "edit" but can't see it in the interface tab.
also tried just putting the xml and png into the skins folder again no profit.

To me, unzipped skins show at the very top of the skin list.
