I just used Virtual DJ for the first time and created a playlist through automix. How do I successfully transfer the playlist to Itunes? When I attempted to transfer the playlist, it just played the songs in entirety and none of the cuts or edits I made in the playlist are in the Itunes playlist.

No of course they weren't. The cuts/edits you made were not exportable. They are for use in VDJ.
VDJ is DJ software, which is designed to do that type of thing. iTunes is not DJ software. It's just for consumers to listen to tracks as they were recorded, not remixed/edited.
One thing you could do is to record your automix, then you could play back the recorded mix on your Apple device.
