Well aware of the opium wars, as it happens opium use was/is similar (in China) to western use of codine (same family) mostly use is medicinal not reaching oblivion, that and it gave us Hong Kong for 100 years, Rule Britannia.

A DJ is a public figure who can have great influence which should be used wisely.

Respectfully, Ron. If anyone is looking up to a DJ their parents have failed. Just like sports stars, we are imperfect. We make mistakes, just like pro athletes. It is not our place to educate others on history. We may indulge in a conversation from time to time but, our job is to play music. If someone wants to learn about history, go to school. If they want to learn about the evils of drugs, go to a treatment center. That is not our job.

Human suffering is a concern for all of mankind, and should be reflected in our actions.
You can abstain, as many have, and in their defense they often use the phrase "I was just following orders", or sometimes they claim it's none of their business.
The ones who have tried to help humanity such as Jesus, Gandhi, Lincoln, JFK, Bobby Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, John Lennon...were all murdered.
It's our duty to remember their lives, and hopes for humanity.
Last night I ended the evening with the Beatles song "All You Need Is Love".
I passed on a message from the Beatles to our world.
Paul McCartney has given up cannabis to set a good example for his grand children.
We just never saw the danger back in the 60's.
Others like Marvin Gay, and the Black Eyed Peas have also sought to send messages which would help.
The evil ones want us silent, and selfish.

A lot of people are fed up with the trash played by most DJ's.
Song's like Deacon Blues "Dignity", and "Real gone Kid" are gaining in power.
The Journey broke through with "Don't Stop Believing".
Tina Turners "Proud Mary" is another mega song.
