Topic: keyboard short cuts

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I was wondering what NUM refers to in the shortcuts. If I hit the # nothing happens. NUM+ or NUM - etc. What key is the NUM key. It is supposed to move the pitch slider. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks.

NUM refers to Numerical Pad.

If you keyboard doesn't have this it won't work.

work only on the right side of a keyboard so you must change the key

I have another issue with the keyboard shorts to add to this post. I use a mixer/controller with a keyboard to search my songs. I turn off keyboard shortcuts but the spacebar still works and it's a bit annoying sometimes. Example: I load player "A" with an instrumental background music while doing karaoke and use my right player for the actual karaoke song. While playing the karaoke song I search for the next karaoke song to be loaded for when the one playing is finished and the next singer is ready. Here's the issue. A cool thing about VDJ is the security tab in options. I actually use it differently a bit. While the karaoke song is playing I search and load the next song and the message pops up saying "a song is playing, are you sure you want to stop it". I don't touch the yes in the message until the song playing is over. It's a great tool to use when your busy and had a few drinks lol as you can't do any functions after that so nothing can screw up. It keeps you ahead of the game and knowing that your ready to go immediately and not losing the song you wanted next. Main problem is the keyboard. I use a Pioneer DDJ-SX controller so no need for the keyboard to function so I turn it off so I don't hit a key by accident or whatever. Even when you turn off the keyboard in "mappers" the spacebar stays on. Depending where I set up as I do a lot of mobile as well as clubs the keyboard sits in front of my DDJ-SX and the monitor behind the DDJ-SX. My belly sometimes hangs over the spacebar and if I move a bit my belly hits the spacebar and the next song loads instantly. Is there a way to turn off the spacebar shortcuts completely as per the option as it states?

Go into the keyboard mapper and blank out the play_pause command connected to the spacebar key, I've just tried it and it works.

Didn't work for me... This is the steps I took. 1) opened VDJ 2) opened config 3) clicked on mappers tab 4) re-checked keyboard (as I leave it un-checked) 5) removed the shift command completely( then removed the check mark 6) Closed the config tab 7) loaded a song in left player 8) loaded a second song on top of it while playing 9) The message popped up 10) clicked spacebar and it still loaded the waiting song. Then I tried restarting vdj but still the same. ??

I see what you mean now, Sorry to tell you it looks like it's something that is unavoidable (windows based hardcoding) (it's the same as the return key) you could use a 4 deck skin to avoid this but it would take a bit of remapping for your controller.

Config>mappers>keyboard>space>trashcan at the bottom>gone.

No AMAHM what he is talking about is when he has the protection window up,

'This deck is playing right now, do you want to load the track? Yes No'

spacebar works as return, the only way round this I can see is to use a 4 deck skin

That's not how I read it, but what do I know.

" Is there a way to turn off the spacebar shortcuts completely as per the option as it states?"

Well I guess I'll have to lose the belly! lol Chances are I won't though. At 52 and always having a belly since the age of 10 and love the taste of alcohol it will probably be faster if VDJ finds a solution to turn off the spacebar. But seriously by turning off the keyboard shortcuts should turn off all the shortcuts you would think. It's in the list of shortcuts. Should I put this in the wish list of new features?

I'm not sure it is a VDJ thing, it's a windows thing, I just emptied my recycle bin and when it asks 'are you sure?' space bar confirms your choice just like what is happening with you.

So what to do?

You could use the other channels on your mixer (You have 4 right?) (Deck 1 with the kroakyoke video playing now, deck 3 with the backing track, Deck 2 with the next kroaky video in waiting, likewise deck 4 with the waiting backing track, you're still ready and spacebar won't bother anything. you'd just have to get used to crossfading the next video in.

Maybe you don't like that idea, you could remap the spacebar in windows to perhaps only work like a spacebar when Ctrl is pressed
He's a program that can do that quiet easily with very little hassle.
