This laptop seems like a good value. Does anyone have any first hand experience with it specially mixing video?

Just got mine today - posting from it as I type. Its beautiful first of all, not as heavy as I thought. Still updating and cleaning house - I haven't played with her yet.

I had a 17r before(not the special edition) and the ONLY reason I got rid of it was to get a laptop that would allow me to DJ video. So considering the fact that this one has a 2gb video card in it....I think you'll be good. I have a Latitude 6420 with only 512mb of video memory and it plays videos just fine

The nVidia 640/650 video card is the best choice for video mixing imo.

Very cool. Let us know how well it performs with video.

So tonight after getting a chance to play with the video portion on this lappy - it was a bit rough going. There are so many settings with this video card. And after a few tweeks - this machine is quick, and I am a very happy boy - video was no joke. cpu was running at 6 percent at was peeking at 10 -
I will say this tho - I totally forgot to install my asio drivers ( I use DN MC 6000) so I just played out of the the one channel and loaded video and auto played them (my gig is simple on tuesday, just trivia) but, Im not anticipating any issues with audio.
I purchased this unit directly from dell, for $1029 interest free for 6 months after applying for financing. free shipping. The only thing Im thinking I should have done was order the next model up - It had a 32g SSD. i think it would be cool to boot up in 4 seconds!
