Topic: Question about using multiple identical hard drives with VirtualDJ

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi I have an external hard drive full of music videos. I also have a backup external drive with an identical copy of all the videos in case there's a problem with the first drive.

If I plug in the backup drive, and use Windows to assign the drive the same letter that the original drive was using, should Virtual DJ be able to use the backup drive just like the original drive? (Should BPMs, cue points, playlists, etc. work seamlessly?)

With external hard drives, the drive letter is irrelevant. It is stored in the path for each song in the local database of the drive, but it's only a place holder and is ignored by VirtualDJ.

If you are copying the database from one drive to the other then the folder structure must be identical for this to work.

The easiest method is to use a file synchronisation utility to sync the files from one drive to the other, so that both are identical.
