Topic: Permanently delete comments from tag.

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Just wondering if anyone can help me on this.
I used tag and rename to tag my mp3 files as all I need is the filename, artist and title, would like to use track number but VDJ doesn't support it.
What I'm doing is deleting all but the information I need in tag and remane, including the comments but once these track are in VDJ the comments in the tag are sometimes still there.
I have seen that I can delete them in VDJ by highlighting the files with the comments, right click, batch and then erase comment, this removes the comment from the browser but when I click on an individual file and use file info, the box which should contain the comment is empty but underneath the comments box information is still there EG. ^ > amazon.com, (amazon.com would have been in the comments box) I want this section underneath to say "no tag".
There is a work round where I click on the arrow right > and the it changes to "no tag" but this would be painfully long to do.
Even when I highlight all the files and use file infos and get the section underneath the comments box the say "no tag" and then click apply to all, none of the other highlighted file change.

Any help in this would be very grateful.

It seems a bit drastic to me, deleting all the comments that you've presumably typed in over the years - you might decide in future that you want them again!

If you don't want to see them, why not just disable the comment field in the browser?

I'm not fussed about the comments, just don't want them on there. OCD maybe.
Even when I've deleted the comments in Tag and Rename, they still appear in VDJ. WHY??

you need to reload the tags, I think you just need to right click one of the folders and select scan for tags, so the database can be updated with the new information or in your case no information. The reason it works like this is that VDJ doesn't read the id3 tags when loading a songs information it reads the database xml.

If I were you I would first make a backup of the database xml file just in case you change your mind later and want to keep the information.
