Basically, an offset (S-shaped) arm improves upon the straight arm's faults of groove wear and sound distortion. However, the straight arm can track better for back and forth movement (ie scratching.)

For TCV use, I would suggest a straight arm, assuming you will be scratching, and if not, then don't bother with TCV anyway.
