Topic: Volume on Computer

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Was just wondering this last night. I always run the volume on my laptop at 100%, been doing that for years. Is this where the level should be set on my laptop?

As long as you have no distortion on the output then it's fine.

There are various things that ultimately control the line output volume, including levels in your software and the output of your soundcard, but if it sounds OK then there's probably no issue.

Personally I alwasy set any of my settings no more than level 90 and shoot for level 80 at best. I read somewhere that it's good to leave some headroom for them quiet passages that you get on some songs. When I say all my settings I'm talking about the PC volume, the Master dial and Volume sliders on VDJ.

I definately agree there. I would use 100 but I get distortion when it's that high. I use mine at 60 and let my equipment do the rest.
