This bugs me. I've been slowly perfecting my mixing abilities and sometimes when I'm transitioning from one song to another and I'm messing with the bass knobs so as not to make it too messy, there's significant crackling noises which just ruins it for me. It's not that the bass is too high or anything, because I make sure it's not. This also happens with the deck's volume knob (again, while transitioning, but sometimes also when I use them in the middle of the song).
Does this have anything to do with the quality of the file itself? Because I've used the same track in two different sets and there's little to no crackling noises on the latter.

What version are you using? What OS are you using? What sound-card are you using? How much ram do you have? What is the quality of the files you are using? What is this bass knobs you are talking about? Is it a mixer or controller? Could it be the knobs?
