Topic: Cue points for Dummies (or what are multiple cue ponts and why should I care)

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I know what a cue is. I know it can be useful to set a primary cue point.

Now that I have a DAC3 to play with, it has several hot cue buttons.

So, my question is this... what purpose are multiple cue points and how do I work them into a show?

I am dumb in this area so please be kind. :)

Multiple cue points allow you to mark different places in a track. It can be useful for example to have several points predefined - a point where you would normally start a beatmix, a point where you might cut and drop, points that are good for scratching and so on. You can even use a cue point just as an information marker - some skins will display a countdown time remaining until a cue point.

i use cue points to jump around a song on the fly (and if ive droped the track in on the wrong 4 beats) if youve got them set up correctly (and the bpm segments bellow the track are right and the padlock next to the hot cues is on) you can swap "in sync" segments of the track and remix on the fly. this is one of the best features that was added to version 6 and makes my mixing sound tighter then some of my serato brevrin (not trying to start a fight!)

Myself I mainly use 2 to 4 cue points..

1st cue is the "beginning" of a song..
2nd cue is the first downbeat I would use if I am beatmixing the song. (sometimes used as an alternate starting position.. IE songs with a long intro)

3rd and 4th cues are misc.. sometimes spots I like to use for loops, maybe a notification (IE: vocals start here, or song much faster, etc etc)

Thanks, Hip (and others).

Now, 2nd dumb question... how do I access said cue points?

Is there a tutorial?

I currently use a DMC1 (sometimes DAC2 and looking to use the DAC3), so what is the ideal way to set and the access cues?

Let's assume DAC3 since I plan to use it for next year.

Thanks!

don't suppose you could tell me what skin shows this countdown? cheers

Seems I found out how much fun CUEs are.

Now need a skin that shows at least 4 or so.

The skin I am using shows time. CIOCE I think.

I use the Mix Lab V3.1 that comes with Pro. This cues area (between the two decks) allows you to set/edit/choose up to 8 cue points per track.

Cheers,

Roy

I use the keyboard and/or the DMC2 to work with my cues..
With the DMC2 (and a shift key I made) I have access to 4 hot cues..

With the keyboard, combinations of ctrl or alt or shift and the numbers above the qwerty are what set or delete or engage my cues..

The Titanuim Max skin I beleive have 8 cue point you can set the cue on the skin and jump to those cue point as well from the skin.
