I hope someone can clarify what the heck is going on. 80% of my Karaoke .zip files do not work. They are the same files as the ones that DO work. All the files work in PCDJ without a problem.
Can someone explain what I have to do to get them working? I dont WANT to have to go back to PCDJ for Karaoke after using VDJ for my music & Vids for so long.
Thanks again everyone. VDJ RULZ!

Ok then... why don't you try downloading the latest update and see if that takes care of the problem. (You will have to register your software to download 6.0.1.)

This issue has nothing to do about cracked or registered versions.

but the guy (above) is having issues with 5.2 not v6xxx
Did the issue with your zip files happen 5 months ago when you downloaded your v5.2, or has it just started to do what you say?

I would suggest to UNZIP the karaoke songs that dont load properly (when they're zipped)
you could do this just before you need to play the track, as it only takes a few seconds.
to do this...
1. right click the file in the VDJ browser and open in explorer.
2. in explorer, right click and unzip
3. drag the new mp3 file back to vdj
4. it now plays as it should.
Also, i still cant work out why people like to zip their cdg files when 1tb harddrives are now just £50

Thanks for ALL the advice.
What I did was found 1 of the karaoke songs that didnt work and unzipped it. Then added it to the search and found it again and it worked fine.
NOW how the heck do I unzip 41,000 files at once? Anyone know how to do this?
Ill start going 1 by 1 but I hope someone can answer my question before my fingers fall off :)

Ok, I found a program called Unzip them all. It is a free download. Just google it. It unzips entire directary. I have tried it unzipping a directary and it works.
Just thought I would let everyone else know thats having the same problem.
Thanks again group.

The only against the unzip procedure is rename thousands cdg+mp3 files. Its annoying, specially when some unzipped files dont bring the singer and song names, just a catalog description.
About the issue also happenings on 5.2... thats weird. Maybe theres something out VirtualDJ zip decoder, thats doing it. Even if all my files are already unziped, I expect it could be solved, anyway.

as far as i knew VDJ diddnt handle .zip files any way?????????? since when did VDJ have a de-compressor built in???? i would say extract the Karaoke files into a folder then they will play without any problems.
not too sure about you guys but that seem to be the most obvious answer to me...

Blulite
Off course VDJ can handle .zip files.
Example: All skins are orginally installed at .zip folders. If VirtualDJ couldnt decompress it, how could the skins works fine?

I did, use a unzip tool, but some files don't brings the singer and song name, only the catalog position of the karaoke supllier. Rename these files, is the boring part of the job.

That's what I use - it works fine as long as compression is set to "5 - default" if you plan to zip them back up...I don't run zip files anymore though, due to issues with the karaoke plugin title/artist display.

This is not really part of the majority of the conversation here but it pertains entirely to the thread title and topic...Here is a 4 part YouTube tutorial I did on ripping CDG discs to CD+G files, then converting them to a single zip file for simplicity's sake. The final video in the series briefly explains how to initialize and use your new files with the most recent VDJ releases including 6.0 and 6.0.1 and beyond I'm sure...
